EC Boston’s Historic Pub Crawl

Sharing is caring!

team shot with tour guide            On Tuesday September 24, EC Boston’s Student Services and Accommodation Department took part in the Freedom Trail Foundation’s Historic Pub Crawl!  What is a historic pub crawl?  This is a tour along famous taverns on the freedom trail, where a colonial costumed guide tells stories of the American Revolution and all of the important events that happened in some of these famous taverns!  There were 4 stops on the tour and those were The Union Oyster House- the oldest restaurant in America, The Bell in Hand- the longest, continuously operating tavern in America, the Point, and the Green Dragon.  At each tavern, the group got a sample of Boston’s own Samuel Adams Beer and a sample of some local flavor including oysters and Boston baked beans.

Rebecca, Kevin, Minna and Kaitlin took part on the tour and each learned a lot about the history of our great city!  We learned that most of downtown Boston is on manmade landfill and that the North End was once known as an island where taverns and casinos were of the most popular stops!  During this tour, we learned so much about the Revolution and events that occurred right around the classrooms of EC Boston!  We would recommend staff and students who are 21+ to check out this unique tour led by the Freedom Trail Foundation.  Tickets are $43 and tours run every Tuesday evening beginning at 5:30pm!
