What did one of our teachers do on holiday? Meet up with some former students, of course!

Recently, one of our teachers, Angela, went on holiday to South Korea and Japan and met up with some former EC students along her way!

Here is a little account of her trip in her own words.

I hadn’t had a “real” holiday in a very long time and, after finishing my Diploma and another long summer managing the Junior Homestay programme, I decided it was time. One of the best things about working at EC Brighton is who you meet along the way. Every day, teachers are in contact with people from all over the world; people you’d never normally have a chance to meet. Over the years, I’ve taught a lot of students from South Korea and been very intrigued about the country, as I knew very little about it before working here. I’ve also always been fascinated by Japanese culture, food and fashion and never come across a Japanese student I didn’t get on with! ‘So,’ I thought, ‘I’ll go far away for my holiday, and visit both places in one trip!’

It was amazing, and I can honestly say that my experience was made even better because of the former students I met up with, who were all extremely helpful and hospitable guides! I spent a week in Seoul (South Korea) and 5 days in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka (Japan). Apart from showing me the sights, my students made sure I was extremely well-fed! By the end of it, I was a little worried I had eaten the whole food supply in each city… Thankfully, my trip involved a lot of walking (due to visits with students, as well as getting very lost on my own) and some really healthy, delicious food. I hope these photos don’t make you too hungry 😉
