It’s not news to us at EC Brighton, that our city is an amazing place. We experience every day the wonders that behold this marvellous city. Just outside our doors is a plethora of overwhelmingly incredible things that each draw the full attention of your spirit. Then beyond and beyond as far as a civil person can walk, an endless sea of costly delights glitters across this plot of land. Brighton is literally inside a bowl of land that is opened only to the ocean. So no wonder people who come here describe the sensation of falling into a bubble that they cannot escape from. This is London by the sea no doubt. It is a globally popularised tourist destination of which the economy is based on temporary pleasure. As long as holiday makers keep flooding through the station gates, this city will grow and grow with attractions that force every last local to the most inconvenient and overcrowded outskirts.
Ranked Number One Outside London
A survey by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has ranked Brighton as the most cultured city in the UK outside London. We all know London as a cultural hot spot at a global scale, so this really says a lot about Brighton. The government department surveyed 2000 people in a range of cities late last year asking them about their access to, and engagement with, cultural opportunities. Just over 61% of the adults surveyed actively engaged in the arts. This is the highest level outside the Capital and well ahead of much bigger cities and even last year’s UK City of Culture itself – Liverpool. The cultural and artistic offer of the city is regarded as a major contributor to economic success attracting talented and innovative people to live and work here.
