This weekend we have trips to Greenwich and York. Greenwich is £20 and takes your the one of the most historical parts of London. You can visit the Maritime Museum or enjoy many of the shops, cafe’s and street performers! Also we have a trip to York £30 includes the transfers and a guided walking tour of this historic city! The weekend of the 23rd – 24th July we have a trip to Bath and Stonehenge £100 Saturday We depart from outside Parkside Police Station, Cambridge at 07.15 and drive directly to Bath, with one short stop en route, before checking into our city centre accommodation. You will then have a guided walking tour of historic Bath, considered the most beautiful city in the country, and see all the important sights of this impressive Georgian city and also learn about its Roman past. After the tour the rest of the day is free to further explore and enjoy the city. You can visit the Georgian Assembly Rooms and its Costume Museum, the medieval Abbey, the excellent shopping centre, watch and enjoy the street entertainers and lots more. You can even bathe in the hot thermal waters of the open-air rooftop pool of the Thermae Bath Spa with its great views over the city. The evening is also free for you to discover the many good restaurants, friendly pubs, live music and, being a University city, a choice of good lively night-clubs. Sunday After breakfast at 09.15 we leave our accommodation and visit the famous Roman Baths which includes a self-guided audio tour. The rest of the morning is free. We depart Bath at 13.00 and drive directly to Stonehenge, considered the greatest prehistoric monument in Europe. The building of this stone monument was begun over 5000 years ago and an audio tour helps to explain the great achievement and some of the mysteries that surround Stonehenge. On the weekend of the 30th-31st July we have a two day tour to Liverpool and Chester and it also includes a stadium tour of Old Trafford, home of Manchester United! £100 Saturday We depart from Parkside Police Station, Cambridge at 07.30 and drive to the ancient Roman city of Chester, with one short breakfast stop en route. Situated on the River Dee and on the England/Wales border, Chester has the largest Roman amphitheatre in the country. You can walk along the Roman/medieval wall that circles the city, visit the medieval cathedral and enjoy the great shopping centre, especially the double galleried streets found in the very heart of the city. At 14.30 we leave Chester and travel to Old Trafford Stadium, home of the most famous football team in the world, Manchester United. Here we take a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the stadium, which includes a visit to the museum and trophy room. There will then be free time to look around the Manchester United Megastore. We then drive to Liverpool, the 2008 European City of Culture and one of the most exciting and lively cities in Britain and check into our accommodation. The evening is then free to enjoy the great nightlife that the city has to offer. This could include a visit to the Cavern nightclub, the underground venue where the Beatles performed at the start of their career in the early 1960’s. Next weekend 15th-17th July we have a three day, two night trip to Edinburgh! £170 Friday We depart at 06.30 from outside Parkside Police Station, Cambridge, and drive north towards Scotland with a breakfast stop en route. We then continue our journey and make a short stop as we cross the England/Scotland border for group photos before on to Jedburgh and lunch at the Scottish Woollen Mill. Here we also have chance to try a small glass or two of whisky, Scotland’s famous national drink. Then on to Edinburgh and to our hotel. The rest of the afternoon and evening is then free to explore and enjoy the city and the great nightlife it has to offer. There are plenty of good pubs, restaurants and nightclubs and your Travelsights tour escort, will have some good suggestions on how you may spend your evening. Saturday At 09.00, after breakfast, we leave the hotel for a guided city coach tour. We will see most of Edinburgh’s famous sights and learn something of the history of this great city. The tour will finish at Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Royal Mile, this is well worth a visit. The rest of the day is then free. You have a wide choice of things to do. Apart from the castle there is the Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyrood House, there are wonderful museums and galleries and some great shopping areas.
