I thought I would share a few words from one of our favourite teachers Kendra. I’ve always believed that the more effort you put into something, the more you get out of it and I think this is totally true when it comes to learning or teaching English. I love trying to create exciting, energetic lessons which encourage my students to respond in an enthusiastic and productive way. In this way they learn and have fun at the same time! Working for EC enables me to bring my personality and teaching style into the classroom because I know that I’m supported as a teacher by the rest of the staff and the organisation as a whole. At the same time, I’m challenged and encouraged to develop professionally by working closely with my colleagues who are always full of ideas and bring a depth of experience and knowledge. EC Cambridge is a great school with a really friendly atmosphere. The city is natural place to study in as so many other students are around you and there is an atmosphere of learning (and playing too!)
Yesterday we had a presentation from some of our students! Our Hitachi students have been with us since June and have been doing some research into Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Yesterday they presented their findings to some of the staff at EC Cambridge. It was great to see how much their English has progressed since their arrival. When they first started their English Language Course in Cambridge they were at low intermediate level, but their presentation was floorless and showed how much their fluency has increased! All three of the students did really well and today is their last day so we are sad to see them go! Good luck for the future guys!
So after a couple of hard weeks, EC Cambridge has moved into its brand new building! We are now all in one place in a modern building with excellent facilities! Spread over three floors, we have 14 brand new classrooms all equipped with Interactive Whiteboards. There is also a separate Library and Computer Room as well as a Computer Lounge in Reception. All the staff can be found on Level 3 so we are all in one place making sure you can find the right person to help you at any time. More importantly we now have a lift so we can accept students with physical disabilities. All this still within the city centre!
So on the 24th August, our Junior Programme sadly came to an end. We had over 800 13-17 year olds for our Junior Programme this year spanning 10 weeks from the 17th June until the 24th August! As well as English classes, there were plenty of fun activities and excursions. Lifelong Friendships were made and bonds formed. So all in all a great time was had by everyone! Click here to see a video of some of the best bits!
This week sees the return of our Free English Lessons at EC Cambridge. The English Lessons are for our current students to help them brush up on their English when they have some free time! We have classes to practice conversation, pronunciation and lectures to help students get the extra help they may need. The classes are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:00. Remember to sign up on the Academic noticeboard!
So this month we have some great new activities and excursions for you to enjoy. Our activity programme is a great way to see Cambridge, make some friends and of course practice your English. As well as the usual subjects, we have cake and conversation. A great chance to practice your conversation whilst having some tasty treats at the same time! We also have our first visit to the Scott Polar Museum. This museum is home to some of Cambridge Universities ground breaking research into the antartic Exploration. As well as this, we will be heading to castle hill, the highest point in Cambridge, and taking a look at Kettles Yard en route! On top of this, we also have some great excursions! As well as trips to Bath, London, Stratford, Windsor and Oxford, we have tickets to some Champions League football matches. Or if you want do something a little more fun and active join us to go paintballing! Of course we will offer musicals in London’s West End every Wednesday. Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King and Mama Mia among the top picks!
