Cambridge, this city is beautiful and everywhere you visit you could be surprised. And the people in this city are kind. Advanced Level English Courses – EC Cambridge

Marah Faroun is currently studying on an Advanced Level General English Course at EC Cambridge. Here is a testimonial from her and her time studying at EC Cambridge. I’ve always heard about EC being one of the most well-known international English schools worldwide, and I thought I’d give it a go! I chose Cambridge for its reputation of being a target for international students. I have been at EC school for nearly 3 months now, and every single class feels as exciting as if it was my first! I like the fact the we are taught by different teachers with different accents and teaching techniques. The staff are beyond friendly and Michael rocks! The school values education, as well as social and educational activities. Trips to universities, cities inside and outside of the UK, that’s just fascinating! I was impressed by the Welcoming Dinner Idea as it removed the awkwardness and confusion of my first day, and I also got to make friends easily! I booked accommodation with EC for one month (homestay). I had troubles with my first family, but the school was very helpful and provided better options for me. I had recommended EC for two of my friends, who have already booked with the school and will be coming in April. I’m really enjoying my course, and I believe that coming to EC has been a great success! I’d definitely come back to EC, but I hope I will have mastered English by the end of my course. Come back for work maybe? Yeah why not!! === EC offers various English Courses, including Cambridge ESOL courses in Cambridge!

Anna Barbieri tells us about her experience so far at EC Cambridge

Anna Barbieri from Italy has been studying on an Academic Year English Course with EC Cambridge since October last year. Here is a very honest but great testimonial about her time here!   I have been in Cambridge since October and I remember that the first thought was : Oh my god, I can’t believe that I’m doing this by myself. I have no friends here, no family none apart me. I’m sure that I’ll feel alone. What I didn’t know was that I was wrong! The first impact could be tough but after few days you figure out that Cambridge and in particular the EC School is your new family. In EC I found not only an amazing school but also a group of people always ready to help and listen to you in every moment. I would recommend the EC to everybody because I think that is an experience of growing up and a marvellous occasion to meet new people with a different  point of view. A good occasion to meet people and start socializing is take part in the school’s activity. I find the welcome dinner a really good start! I really enjoy my lesson as well because every teacher that I had is amazing, always available to help and repeat in case of misunderstanding. Above all I think that the most important thing is the relationship between you and your house family (if you stay there) because they become your family for a while, for that reason the dialogue and the honesty are the first things. If you understand that you can get on well with them and become very close. I would never change mine! I’ll definitely recommend this experience to anybody and I hope that the next EC students will be lucky just as me, but is not a hope, it is a certainty!!!   … Read more

A new face at EC Cambridge

Lets give Jesko Thiel a big welcome as he has started an internship at EC Cambridge today. Here is a little bit about him in his own words…. Hi my name is Jesko and I am a Master’s student at the Leibniz University of Hanover. My subjects are Politic-Economics and English and I plan on becoming a teacher afterwards (which hopefully will be in next autumn). Besides my studies I am really into (modern) cinema, photography and video editing which I do as a part-time job as well. I joined EC Cambridge as an intern in February as part of my studies at the university and I am looking forward to meet and (hopefully) help you with any problems and concerns! ===== EC Cambridge offers various English Courses, including Cambridge ESOL.

EC Cambridge Teacher Profiles – Max Mazzoli

Some of you may have been lucky enough to be taught by Max Mazzoli. If you haven’t, here is a bit more information about him! I was born between Milan and Florence – probably an accident, my mum would say – then I was ‘transplanted into west London, not far from Peter Pan’s Kensington Garden. In London I experienced a second childhood and a precocious adolescence, overwhelmed by new enchanting words and exotic idioms, not to mention the need to learn geography, in order to place on the map all the cosmopolitan encounters that have forged my intimate being. Teaching English was the logical consequence after a magical time spent learning it. Whether I’ve learnt it or not, I’ll leave it to you to decide. Or maybe English has just “happened” to me (just quoting Chomsky) I have accrued many years of experience in teaching. I have taught in Primary schools in London, English GCSE, English Language and Literature A levels, Philosophy A levels, Pre-Masters Foundation courses in 6th Form Colleges, Italian at King’s College (Cambridge University), and at UCL (University College London). In the last 10 years I have enjoyed preparing foreign students to take their IELTS exam in order to access English speaking universities. I have also worked with asylum seekers in London and with American teenagers as a Tourist Guide and Tour Manager around Italy. At EC I teach EFL/ESOL (PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC), EAP (IELTS) I have worked and taught in London, in Italy and in Turkey and now in our prestigious Cambridge. I like travelling and, among other places, I have been to South America, the USA, China, India, Russia, Mongolia, Korea, Japan and Malaysia. I speak Italian and Spanish fluently and play the guitar and the piano (less ‘fluently’ J ). I also … Read more

Homestay at EC Cambridge

Well today, we are looking at the last one of those questions. To be honest picking the right accommodation is so important, so we like to recommend the Homestay. So they will provide meals and give you plenty of opportunities to speak to you so you can practice your English.
