Cape Town was named World Design Capital 2014 yesterday at the International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress in Taipei.
As the first African city to be awarded this title it is a fantastic achievement for Cape Town and Africa!
Being named the World Design Capital provides the opportunity for the city and the community to come together through transformative design and development plans. The accolade will also enhance Cape Town’s reputation globally as being a place that is known for more than just its natural beauty.
The World Design Capital 2014 title results in a year-long programme of design-focused events that will see creative communities across the globe turning to Cape Town for social, economic and cultural solutions.
