Partner agency ESL visit to our USA schools

ESL Visit

Our partners ESL – Language studies abroad visited us this month on a Famtrip in the USA, including the fabulous cities of San Diego, San Francisco, Boston and New York. We were delighted to meet some of the ESL counsellors from different countries. They all loved the city, the school and the team and are proud to be EC’s Ambassadors! Here are some comments from our US Fam Trip Host and EC Miami Director, Amanda Ross-Gomez, on the highlights of the trip:

San Diego

Sun, sea and surfing! Welcome to San Diego! We started our trip picked up in style with a stretch hummer limousine, and headed with ½ of the group to a delicious Mexican dinner in Old Town. We had an early night so we could be well-rested for our Sunday morning tour of San Diego (including pictures with some real American football fans!) and our surf lesson! The weather was perfect, with clear bright blue skies and warm sun…A typical day in Southern California! All of us managed to get up on the surfboard…although some of us were back in the water again pretty quickly! Monday we headed to the EC San Diego center to meet the team and tour the center and student apartments. It’s a fabulous, funky school just minutes from the beautiful La Jolla Bay. The San Diego team was super warm and welcoming, and we just couldn’t get enough of the gorgeous scenery!

San Francisco

San Francisco: On to the next stop! We arrived in San Francisco after sunset and were greeted by some of the most amazing city views we have ever seen, and headed for dinner overlooking Union Square. The steep climb up the hilly San Francisco streets was welcome after our big meal! The next morning we arrived at the beautiful, modern EC San Francisco center to meet with the Center Director and her amazing team. After touring the centrally located student residences, we jumped on to a double-decker bus for a tour around the city. San Francisco has something for everyone…Some of us decided to get off to shop and stroll through the Haight-Ashbury district, others decided to get off near the Golden Gate bridge…You couldn’t ask for a better way to see the city!

Boston

A flight across the expanse of the States and we were greeted in Boston by the friendliest of drivers and taken to our hotel right in the heart of the Back Bay neighborhood. The next day we walked over to the EC Boston Center where we were again given a tour and presentation by the Center Director and lovely Boston team. After visiting the modern and spacious student apartments we were ready to see the city by bus… or by boat… or BOTH! If you’ve never experienced a “Duck Tour”, there is no better way to get around…try it! Dinner in Faneuil Hall, across from the new home of our Boston Center, on to drinks and dancing, what a fabulous day with the friendly Bostonians!

New York

An early morning start for our transfer to the Big Apple, but before we knew it, we were pulling into Manhattan, just like something out of a movie. We were met by a friendly member of the EC New York team, and led to the fabulous modern school right in the heart of Times Square. Locations just don’t get any better than this! We walked around the school, admiring the fabulous views of New York from the classrooms windows, and then went off to see the student residences, one of which was within walking distance of school – what a luxury in huge New York! We then got ready for our final night out in the Big Apple! Finally, our farewell dinner overlooking Columbus Circle and drinks and dancing in the Meatpacking District. A perfect end to an amazing week!
