Ice-skating in New York
If you’re learning English in New York, put on your cosy layers and head over to Bryant Park for some ice-skating. The skating rink is open until 10 p.m. daily, so you can skate hand-in-hand while the city lights twinkle around you. With the music playing, it’s easy to soak up the atmosphere and forget the temperature outside. For Valentine’s Day, or any day, it’s super romantic and super fun.
Go punting on the River Cam in Cambridge
Punting is like a trip in a gondola, and there are several punting stations only a few minutes’ walk from EC Cambridge so you can set sail right after class. You can choose to steer the punt and let your loved one watch as you wind along the River Cam, or you can hire a driver so you and your valentine can stay snuggled under a blanket and enjoy the sights of Scholar’s Lawn and the Bridge of Sighs sailing by.
Get cosy in a traditional, history drenched pub in Dublin
Famed for its relaxed and friendly vibe, Dublin has a wealth of pubs with intimate corners and “snugs” that make the ideal setting for a Valentine’s Day date. Start in the heart of the city on Capel Street, where you’ll find Slattery’s Bar, perfectly cosy and full of snugs for you and your date to get to know each other. Surrounded by the history of this almost 200-year-old pub, you’ll soon get lost in each other’s eyes over a glass of their famous Guinness & chocolate mousse. EC students studying in Dublin must try it!
Watch the sunset in Mdina, Malta
Are you a student at EC Malta? Then take your date by the hand and head for the ‘silent city’ of Mdina! Be prepared for some serious romance here as you watch the sun slowly set, turning the city walls a brilliant orange and pink. Mdina is one of the highest spots on the island so we promise you, this view is breath-taking. If that’s not enough, take your sweetheart for a walk through the winding lanes and alleys, and feel love flourish as the gas lamps create an old-world atmosphere of quiet intimacy.
Soak up the glamour at a speakeasy in Montreal
There’s no limit to the creative and romantic activities in this cosmopolitan city, as our EC Montreal students already know. You can share a hot chocolate in the French Quarter, but if you want something more daring, a speakeasy is a wonderful choice! At Le Royal, step underground together and try the delicious cocktails in a place that feels like a 1920`s club. You will fall in love with the interior, the music and maybe even each other.
