Best English school in Malta?

Looking around on YouTube recently, we came across this cool video Charlotte (@chacharmante) made about her time learning English in Malta. Excited to hear more about her EC experience, we got in touch. Check out her video and read our short interview with Charlotte. Why did you choose Malta? My two best friends and I chose to go to Malta because we knew someone who had gone to EC Malta last summer, and she kept telling us how great her summer was. As this sounded awesome, we decided to go there. What did you like about the school?I liked the fact that we were all in the same school, and that the classes weren’t always the same ; the groups could change. What did you think about your classmates? They were all very nice and it was awesome to meet people from all around the world. Moreover, I think it really allowed me to progress in English as we couldn’t talk in our own language. What did you think about your English lessons and the activities the school provided? The English lessons were very great, groups were homogeneous and we could talk a lot. The teachers were very nice and fun, so working wasn’t an annoying task. It permitted me to meet lots of people. The activities the school provided were very fun ; we had a pool party, cruises, we went to an aquatic park… but I wish we had visited the island a little bit more. What did you like about Malta? The things I liked the most about Malta were that we met lots of people, we learnt English but we were having a lot of fun and enjoying our holidays being kind of free. What’s your happiest memory?I think my happiest memory was the Harbor cruise ; the boat was so cool, … Read more

Dani & Basti: Falling in Love, Learning English in Malta

When you’re getting ready to study English abroad, you know that a whole load of exciting, new experiences just waiting for you at your EC destination. There’s a brand new city to explore, new people to meet from all over the world, and incredible memories to make – but did you know that you might even find that special someone and fall in love during your #ecexperience?   It might sound like something right out of your favourite romantic comedy, but it can actually happen!  Just look at Dani and Basti, two lovely students from Brazil and Germany who met while learning English in Malta! We sat down with this adorable couple to ask them about how they met, what they’re doing now, and what they think about their time at EC Malta:   1. Please tell us a little about yourselves – what you do back home and why did you decide to learn English abroad? Dani: I wanted to increase my English level for travelling and for finding a job outside of Brazil. Basti: To have more chances to find a job in Germany, because for good jobs in Germany you have to have good language skills in English too. And right now we Skype every day, so we practise English every day 😉   2. Why did you choose Malta as a destination to learn English? Dani: Malta was cheaper than other countries like Canada or the United States. Furthermore, I thought that in Malta there would be less Brazilians, because I didn´t want to speak in my native language during my study time in Malta. Basti: I chose Malta because of the weather. I wanted to do this English course and so I had to choose a place for it. My last ideas for places were … Read more

My EC Story: Abdullah Rawas

“My life has changed because of EC New York. Now I’m a pilot – and if I hadn’t come to EC, I wouldn’t be a pilot.” Abdullah is one of a young member of the EC family – a student who studied at EC New York from December 2014 until May 2015. An energetic learner, he began his studies at the Pre-Intermediate level, and successfully completed his studies in the Upper Intermediate class. Shortly after leaving EC, he travelled to Fort Worth, Texas, to study aviation and one day become a pilot. After completing a challenging 300 hours of flight school, Abdullah was delighted to tell us that he is now going to begin his career as a pilot with Saudi Airlines! He’s very excited to work as a pilot on Saudi Airlines’ international flights to New York, and plans to visit EC New York as often as he can. During his time at EC New York, Abdullah was very active in student life. He was a student ambassador who led the popular Brooklyn Bridge walk, movie nights, and soccer games – he even presented a brilliant Academic Year lecture on Soccer to all our students! Abdullah was also very involved in helping EC New York give back to the local community. He raised awareness for “A World at School”, which supports the right to education for all children around the world. He also helped collect and deliver books collected at our March Book Drive to Reading Reflections, a literacy program dedicated to providing resources to those who do not have easy access to books. With the support of teachers, staff, students, and others in our building, we collected close to 300 books in total.   Good luck Abdullah!     Would you like more information about studying English … Read more
