Studying in London? Here are 5 spots for dinner with a view!

I think we can all agree that London has some breathtaking views; particularly during the evenings when the city lights up. And what better way to take in these views than by enjoying a great dinner in the heart of the city and sampling the varied cuisines the capital has to offer. Here is a round up of my top 5 dinner locations in London with stunning views of the city!   1.) The Shard, 32 London Bridge Street One of the best known spots for dinner in London with panoramic views of the city. The Shard boasts a number of culinary delights under one roof. The location has some of the best views of the city as restaurants are located within London’s tallest building. There are restaurants here to suit everyone’s taste, from British classics to Chinese cuisines and more. The views of the city at sunset and night make any of the restaurants a great choice particularly for special occasions. PS. This would make a great suggestion for a celebration with friends after completing your course at EC London 30+!   2.) Big Easy, London Canary Wharf Another great location with views of London’s Canary Wharf. Big Easy serves up a BBQ inspired menu with plenty of seafood options too. There’s also a pretty cool bar! Diners here are treated to a stunning view of the river below as well as the impressive buildings in London’s financial district.   3.) Heron Tower, Duck & Waffle/Sushi Samba Situated close to London Liverpool Street is Heron Tower, in which you can find 2 different but equally great restaurants. Sushi Samba is popular as it brings together a range of world cuisines under one roof. The restaurant is located across the 38th and 39th floor, which gives an epic view of … Read more

Loveday at EC London 30+

Happy Loveday everyone! Here at EC London we are celebrating all kinds of love today, the love for family, friends, partners and yourself. Valentine’s day should not only be about relationships. We want to unite our students, to come together and spread love. Therefore, we encouraged our students to write love notes, in their language or English. We then created a wall FULL of love. In addition, we asked students and teachers to bring cakes, chocolate or sweets, to share over a lovely lunch chat! We had a great time and the students arrived in their classrooms with a wide smile of their faces, all ready for their lessons. We played love songs all day in our 30+ reception, a mix between foreign songs and English, therefore, students could share their favourite songs with their friends and us! “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other”, is our quote of the day. Take care of your loved ones, share some extra love and do not forget to give some love to yourself! I would highly recommend to Learn English in London at the 30+ school. Our new intern in the EC London 30+ reception

We would like to introduce our new intern in the 30 + reception in London: My name is Linn Hidfors and I am the new intern in the 30+ reception. I am from Sweden, Gothenburg, where I am doing my last year of school. In Sweden I am studying Economics focused on business. The program that I am doing is also offering seven weeks of internship abroad, this is an EU project called Erasmus +. I applied for the internship and here I am in London now until the end of February. When I applied for the internship I wanted to work in an English-speaking country. In addition, I wanted a challenge. Therefore, London was the perfect place for me: A huge city with a lot of people. I come from a big city in Sweden, but I still got shocked with how many people are wandering around in London. I wanted to know what it was like to live in such a huge city with over 8 million citizens. It has been three weeks of my period here and I love London as a city. Additionally, I really enjoy my job here at EC London. The classrooms are nice and the location of the school is central. My co-workers are amazing and the same goes for all the students! Quick questions and answers about Linn: Other languages: Swedish and a bit of Spanish. Hobbies: I love working out as well as spending time with my friends! Favourite series: My favourite series is Friends. It is so fun, love it. Favourite food: I love tacos! Favourite spot in London: Probably somewhere with a good view of London, such as the Shard, Sky Garden and the restaurant Duck & Waffle. I would highly recommend Learning English in London at the 30+ school. Come and have fun with us along … Read more

After 11 months we say goodbye to Mauricio.

Today we want to say goodbye to our lovely long term student Mauricio, who just have finished a 11 month course here at EC London 30+ He would love to share his opinion about EC with us.   It all began a year ago when I decided to study English abroad because of my strong desire to take my professional career into the next level, so I can apply for some job offers from multinational companies without problems. Therefore, I quit my job and started choosing a good English school I could get the best learning experience to achieve my goal. I have always dreamed about studying in London because this place is one of the most important cities in the world and there is plenty of things to do such as visiting museums and iconic buildings, attending events, having great time with friends, having meals at nice restaurants, good libraries and learning about new cultures and people. EC London 30+ has everything it needs to promote people’s learning and social capabilities, given the variety of academic and extracurricular programs it offers its students. The teachers of this school are truly committed to the learning of their students, the students are of excellence and come from different backgrounds and the classrooms and library are optimal to improve the English skills. Attending classes was confusing at the first time because it has been a long time since my last course I took and the teaching methodology was a bit complex. However, I can remember that my first day at EC London was great, the staff was friendly, helpful and available to answer all my enquiries because I was not able to speak and understand English easily. I took the Beginner class for one week and then I moved to the elementary ones. Overall, … Read more

What is Sport and Exercise Psychology?

It’s almost impossible to watch a sporting event these days without someone mentioning confidence or motivation or mindset! Sport Psychology is becoming more accepted in mainstream sport, let’s find out why… Sport Psychology is the study of people’s behaviour, thoughts, emotions and experiences in a sport or exercise environment. It focuses on 2 distinct areas depending on the needs of the individual concerned: improving performance and improving well being. Generally we focus on one or the other with clients but there are occasions where the two crossover eg; managing one’s emotions can potentially lead to better decision making in competition or better reactions to mistakes = improvement in performance. This can also help to alleviate feelings of disappointment, frustration or anger at a performance which may cross over into life away from sport = improved well being. “Your your emotions affect your decision making…” How will Sport Psychology help me? Sport psychology is an individual process and every person’s needs differ. There is always development and improvement which can be made at any level of sport, whether amateur or professional. Sport psychology can help to see your sport and your performance from an objective and sometimes alternative perspective. It can challenge you to ask questions about things in your sport and performance that you take for granted. For example: How do you practice? Is it as close to competition as possible? Can you make it closer to competition? Have you tried practising challenging situations? If not, how will you react if you meet these situations in competition? “better decision making leads to improved performance“ What happens during a one-to-one Sport Psychology session? A one-to-one session could be in person or over Skype and can be in an office, at the practice ground or any venue of your choice. Typically, the … Read more
