Hey guys Today is my last day in EC London, I don’t really know how I’m feeling. I feel happy and sad at the same time. I spent 6 months in this beautiful city, and I met some amazing People! When I came here I was really sad to say good bye to my family and my friends from Switzerland. I was scared about a city like London because it was my first time here and living in a big city like this one. The firsts weeks were hard for me, and to be open with new people because I was shy, but with the help of my colleagues and new friends that I met, they helped me a lot. This experience helped me to be surer about my language skills and my personal growth. I learned a lot about new cultures, new people, and about my future dream job. I would like to thank you, the EC London’s staff that gave me this fantastic occasion, and thanks to all the friends and interns whom I met along my journey. I love you guys, I really hope to see you again ? Deanna Dotti
I think we can all agree that London has some breathtaking views; particularly during the evenings when the city lights up. And what better way to take in these views than by enjoying a great dinner in the heart of the city and sampling the varied cuisines the capital has to offer. Here is a round up of my top 5 dinner locations in London with stunning views of the city! 1.) The Shard, 32 London Bridge Street One of the best known spots for dinner in London with panoramic views of the city. The Shard boasts a number of culinary delights under one roof. The location has some of the best views of the city as restaurants are located within London’s tallest building. There are restaurants here to suit everyone’s taste, from British classics to Chinese cuisines and more. The views of the city at sunset and night make any of the restaurants a great choice particularly for special occasions. PS. This would make a great suggestion for a celebration with friends after completing your course at EC London 30+! 2.) Big Easy, London Canary Wharf Another great location with views of London’s Canary Wharf. Big Easy serves up a BBQ inspired menu with plenty of seafood options too. There’s also a pretty cool bar! Diners here are treated to a stunning view of the river below as well as the impressive buildings in London’s financial district. 3.) Heron Tower, Duck & Waffle/Sushi Samba Situated close to London Liverpool Street is Heron Tower, in which you can find 2 different but equally great restaurants. Sushi Samba is popular as it brings together a range of world cuisines under one roof. The restaurant is located across the 38th and 39th floor, which gives an epic view of …
Hi, I am Deanna, I’m 23 years old and I’m a student. I come from the State Tourism and Hotel Management School Switzerland. I’m here at EC London +30 to do an internship, it is an experience that is helping me to improve my professional skills and the use of the language. In the past I worked in many sectors like welfare, administration, accountancy and soon on. And now I begin my adventure in tourism. I started to love travel and everything that it represents when I was a child. I remember my first solo trip, I went to Germany to learn the language, it was an experience that permitted me to grow mentally. I am a bit of an introverted person, but the team of EC are very helpful and friendly, and I hope to learn all that I can from them. After my internship I have already “organised” my possible next destination, it will be Scandinavia, and my dream is to visit all the cold nations by boat with my family, the problem is that they don’t like the cold, but I’m sure I can convince them ?. Something about me: clearly, I love travel, but my main difficulty is that I need to organise everything in minimum details, and consequently I can’t live the experience 100%. But on the other hand, I am a person dynamic and I need to have something to do, I can’t stay still. In fact, one of my favourite sports activities is walking. When I’m alone or bored I take my bottle of water and I go around. While during my typical Sunday I like to draw, I’m not a real artist but that relax me. Thanks for reading, Deanna ? Ready for this adventure EC London 30+
Hi guys! Elora speaking from the EC London 30+ team. Last Friday I interviewed Marie, a one weeker +30 student from France. Let’s see what she has to say about her week in London. Hi Marie! So, let’s begin. Where are you from? I am from a small village under Paris, in the South. Why do you want to learn English? Well, I love the language and the British literature. I also wanted to learn in order to travel in English speaking countries with my family. Also, I own a campsite in France and I have a lot of clients speaking English. So, I thought it could be great to learn the language in order to speak better with them. Why London? Coming in London has always been a dream. It’s a beautiful city! And I was interested about the different customs that people have here so I chose to come around and feed my curiosity! And why EC London? Well, I have a friend called Marie Manguy, an English teacher in France, who told me that EC London was a great school. So, I just followed her advice… and here I am! What do you think about the school and the classes? The school is very good. All the teachers are nice and I enjoyed classes where we used authentic resources (for example: Youtube, Radio, Internet…) The level was perfect, not too simple or too hard. And I had an international group in my class, so I spoke with a lot of people coming from all around the world! Also, the school has a good situation. It’s in Central London and just 1-minute walking from Euston Station. It’s good when you want to visit the city after classes! Do you think your English is better after this week here? …
Hi, this is Elora from EC London 30+. Let me introduce one of our student and her story. Lisiê, a 30+ student, is from Brazil but before coming to London, she spent a few days in Portugal with her sister. She used to travel a lot, from the US to Europe for instance. “I love to travel! So, since I like the British culture and want to improve my English, I chose to go to London” she said. Unfortunately, she faced some issues when she arrived in the UK. “There was a misunderstanding and I was really nervous. I didn’t know what to do.” It’s true that being alone in a country you don’t know can be sometimes difficult. But no matter what the problem is, the school will help any students who is in trouble. Luckily, Alex managed to help her and the problem was solved in 2-3 days. “Alex was so nice to me, and super efficient. She was very patient and she reassured me. At the end, my problem was quickly resolved with the help of the staff.” Today, Lisiê’s problem is solved and she is relieved. “The school was perfect in helping me with my problem” she said. “Now I can enjoy my English classes without worrying about anything so again, thank you very much guys!” Lisiê has a pre-advanced level and she seems to be very happy with her classes. “The level is perfect, neither too simple nor too difficult”. When she was in Brazil, she had a pre-intermediate level and with private classes and the English workshop, she quickly improved her level. “I want to do my best here and I look forward to improve more and more my English” she concluded. And of course, we wish her all the best!
Hello to all my dear EC London 30+ students and to all of our readers! On the 1st of April, EC London 30+ had the great pleasure of offering to the students a new activity: “Westminster Tour”. Once again, this activity was a way for our students to learn more about the UK. As well as acquiring English vocabulary and strengthening bonds between students. At 6:30 pm, students and EC London staff met the guide Karan, at Parliament Square. As a first step, Karan introduced himself so did each student. After that, we got an introduction of the surrounding buildings and their main functions. The Parliament Square Garden was overcrowded with protesters and reporters due to the controversial Brexit. After some pictures of the outside of parliament, we finally entered in the heart of UK’s legislature: the Houses of Parliament! Unfortunately, we were not able to get into the House of Common due to an incident that happened a few minutes before. However, we got the privilege to enter the House of Lords and attend a debate. MPs were debating on Brexit, more precisely about Brexit and Erasmus. In this hectic and uncertain governmental period, both staff and students were able to get a sneak peek of the behind the scenes. If you would like as well to Learn English Abroad and take part in this unique adventure, EC London 30+ is undoubtedly the place to be.
Hello to all our lovely English learners of EC London 30+, I hope you are all doing well and improving your English with us! Today it’s time to talk about food! We know that learning is important but so is food. From food trucks to fine dining spots, London has the best cuisine from all around the globe at a range of prices. Last week, I wanted to try exotic food. Therefore I opted for Korean food, which I never had before, and I can tell you that I do not regret this choice. On the Bab On the Bab is a Korean street food restaurant located in 36 Wellington St, Covent Garden. Moreover it is only 15 min on tube from our English School for Adults in London. If you do not want to wait for a seat, you can always ask for takeaway, which is convenient if you are on a rush! This restaurant is opened 7 days a week, usually from 11:30 to 22:30 on Mondays to Saturdays and from 11:30 to 21:00 on Sundays. Both, me and my friend ordered Bibimbap for £9.5, which is a Korean rice dish with various ingredients including the meat of your choice. I can say that it was tasty and healthy, the good thing is that we had a set of 3 traditional Korean sauces to add to our Bibimbap, from sweet to spicy. I am sure you will find your happiness! If you have a big appetite you can order Korean side dishes called “banchan”! Nice food, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere, I strongly recommend On the Bab! Today we want to say goodbye to our lovely long term student Mauricio, who just have finished a 11 month course here at EC London 30+ He would love to share his opinion about EC with us. It all began a year ago when I decided to study English abroad because of my strong desire to take my professional career into the next level, so I can apply for some job offers from multinational companies without problems. Therefore, I quit my job and started choosing a good English school I could get the best learning experience to achieve my goal. I have always dreamed about studying in London because this place is one of the most important cities in the world and there is plenty of things to do such as visiting museums and iconic buildings, attending events, having great time with friends, having meals at nice restaurants, good libraries and learning about new cultures and people. EC London 30+ has everything it needs to promote people’s learning and social capabilities, given the variety of academic and extracurricular programs it offers its students. The teachers of this school are truly committed to the learning of their students, the students are of excellence and come from different backgrounds and the classrooms and library are optimal to improve the English skills. Attending classes was confusing at the first time because it has been a long time since my last course I took and the teaching methodology was a bit complex. However, I can remember that my first day at EC London was great, the staff was friendly, helpful and available to answer all my enquiries because I was not able to speak and understand English easily. I took the Beginner class for one week and then I moved to the elementary ones. Overall, …
