London Zoo – well nearly!

Sharing is caring!

Saturday 8th May was the date for our planned visit to London Zoo, but the skies were grey and spotting with rain. We didn’t let that put us off though and 8 of us boarded a bus to Camden in good spirits. This provided the 1st highlight of the day when 2 of our team realised they had left their wallets behind! A detour was needed to reunite them with their money and they caught us up later in the morning. On arrival at Camden we walked into Regents Park and were getting close to the Zoo when there was torrential rain. We sheltered in a bus stop and the rain was so heavy that it was quite a funny situation. A gap in the rain a few minutes later gave us the opportunity to re-think our plans and there was a unanimous vote to go back to Camden and visit the market which is under cover. A brisk run saw us back in Camden Dock feeling fitter but in need of a hot drink and we sat and chatted in a really nice cafe while the weather improved.

The next 4 hours was really good fun as we visited every stall we could find, sampling a variety of food stalls, clothes and crafts. There was a hat stall which really caught our attention as the team tried on some outrageous headgear. As the weather had improved by the mid afternoon we ventured outside and walked along the canal paths to Camden Dock where we stopped and watched the world go by. It’s a very vibrant and colourful setting and one of the outdoor cafe’s was a perfect place to end a really good fun day.getattachmentgetattachment-2getattachment-1getattachment-3
