Trip to Brighton: "I like Brighton very much as it’s a city you can easily visit in one day!"

Sharing is caring!

One of the most visited city by students of ESOL in London, Brighton is a relatively small but lively town, located on the southern England coast. Verena, our academic intern, decided to visit Brighton few days ago and she would love to share her fantastic experience with all of us!

“I took the train from London Blackfriars to Brighton on Saturday morning. The journey only took me one hour and a half and the train was really comfortable. Besides, I could admire the beautiful and picturesque British landscape.”
“When I arrived in Brighton, I walked from the train station to the seaside because it is a very short distance (about 10 minutes). I definitely recommend enjoying a stroll on the seashore: on your right-hand side you can take pictures of the old pier’s skeleton, also called West Pier, which caught fire in 2003 because of unknown reasons. On your left-hand side there is the other pier – the Brighton Marine Palace and Pier. Here, there are two big amusement arcades where children with their families and adults too can enjoy their free time on a Sunday afternoon.”

“Back to the seaside, there are many small shops where you can buy delicious fresh fish, such as crabs and fish hamburgers, and also souvenirs. Next to the pier, another interesting attraction is the Brighton Wheel, from where tourists can savour a spectacular view of the city and shore.”

“In the afternoon I had the chance to visit the Royal Pavilion, an exotic palace and former royal residence of George IV, Prince of Wales. The building is also surrounded by a magnificent park with colourful flowers and exotic plants.”

“After having spent a couple of hours in the royal residence, I went to the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, which is directly located in the Royal Pavilion garden. The museum, which is free to view, hosts artifacts of different historical periods, from Ancient Egypt to Victorian Brighton, and arts and crafts from across the world. It is really worth a visit!”
