Hello, my name is Victor Tomas. I am 18 years old, come from Gothenburg in Sweden and am now spending seven weeks of my last year in upper secondary school as an intern at EC London. Seven weeks filled with new experiences, emotions and a lot of life lessons. Leaving home for a longer period, for the first time is not always easy. When you are about to live in one of the world most important cities for the first time during such a long time, you need a safe place, somewhere to feel home. When my school send out students on international internships they decide how we are going to live, and for London they placed us in host families.
So, when I left my home in Gothenburg to go to London of course I was a little bit of nervous, how would the man living alone- my host dad be, would my safe place be a safe place? Then I met Paul. The sweetest man possible to treat me when the taxi dropped me off and all possible concernedness was released from my shoulders. Paul is an amazing chef, a loving and caring man. He takes in between one or three students, and during my time here I have lived with at least one other person during all the time.
When you wake up, breakfast is beautifully served on a plate, when you come home you really get welcomed with that family feeling and then dinner is served as a delicious meal.
The apartment is comfortable and warm and nothing like the cold, wool sock wearing London everyone warned us about.
Besides the fact that host family is the undoubtedly best option for someone who wants to practice English outside the classroom it is according to me, the best way to feel like home.
I can definetly say that my London Homestay experience is great!
