My Name is Andy and I have been teaching English courses at EC London for 8 years. I have seen, now more than ever, students learning English by making new friends and speaking together outside of the classroom and I want to share what I have seen with you. New Friends With the current global situation, I have found that the students who are studying at the EC London school right now are looking for any opportunity to maximise human connections. Before class, during breaks and after class, it is wonderful to see learners planning their afternoons, evening and weekends together, trying to make the most of their EC and London experience even more fruitful and memorable. The one thing that is really touching is how established students welcome new students with open arms and are keen to involve them in their social experiences outside of class time. Social Life From speaking to students, it is wonderful to hear what they have been doing with their free time when not in class. They have been going out on walks, going to pubs, going to restaurants, visiting museums, relaxing in parks, sightseeing and even more I’m sure. For some of these students, they are embarking on a new chapter in their lives. For others, they are learning English to study at university. Some are learning English out of interest or out of a desire to travel or for their work. One thing that all of these students have in common, though, is a desire to be social in an environment where they are able to enrich not only their EC or London experience, but their life experience as a whole. Speaking English While students speak a lot of English in class, it is important that they continue this outside of the …
Hi, this is Federica, student services intern at EC London! This week I would like to talk about what students use to do during their first day at EC London. Students come early in the morning as well as teachers and employee. We give to the students welcome packs and tell them where they have to go to do the entrance test. People who work in the reception register their Visa, Passaport and make ID cards for the new students. They will have the Welcome Talk in which my colleague tells them the rules of our school. After lessons, student have to do the Welcome Walk. They have a sheet with some questions about the places inside the school and outside, so that they learn them well. For example we ask about the code to open the door of the stairs, or something about the statue outside st. Pancras station, and other things regarding King’s Cross Station, the British Library and so on.So they follow an itinerary up to the Somers Town Coffee House, the melting pot where I have to wait all the students there, sit and chat with them. It is a pub located near the school with some seats even outside. That’s why it’s a good place to enjoy the nice summer weather in London. That is a good chance to speak about the Social Programme of the week and know each other better. In addition, It’s a good way to make friends. I met so many nice people who enjoyed me and my colleague Alberto to the Karaoke Night. From that day we became close to each other. That’s why it’s an experience I will never forget!

If you are looking for a unique experience, what better way to finish your day with a beautiful sunset? Last Sunday, I went to this gorgeous place with my friends at the end of the day. The Skygarden is a free public space where you can see the most wonderful 360-degree view across London. It is located on the 35th floor. In addition to the beautiful view, there were a lot of greenery. It was very relaxing and soothing because the place is spacious. We stayed for almost two hours, just the time to take a lot of pictures and to drink a cocktail. Two beautiful restaurants and two bars are located there. We ordered one of their cocktails named “Tropical Island”, which was very good. Moreover before heading there, you can take a look at the restaurants and bars’ menu directly on their website. However if you would like to visit the Skygarden during weekends, make sure to book your tickets online on Monday. You should be quick because tickets get sold out in a blink of an eye! Don’t forget your ID card to enter in this place because there is a check in. People are very welcoming in London, I am sure that you be able to Learn English Abroad and have a great time.
Hello, my name is Alice, I am 22 years old. I am studying my fourth year at the Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, a small town in France. My main fields are Management, Finance and Marketing. Currently in a gap year, I have been in London for two months. At the beginning I worked in a charity shop to improve my English and to have a new professional experience. Then I started an internship at EC English School London and I am here until the end of August. I am assisting the accommodation coordinator. Indeed, students can take their accommodation with EC London, we have many residences and house families to propose you. I have got the great opportunity to do my internship in this company because I think it’s the best place to work and to study. All the people are very welcoming. In addition, I can say that it is a wonderful experience to work with people that come from all around the world. In London, I share a flat with other people near Canary Wharf. There are many beautiful places to see in London. If you want to keep in the loop, don’t forget to watch every week the articles that we write on this blog !
Dubai, Marrakech, Tokyo, Paris, Bali, Phuket, Barcelona, Istanbul… On a list of the 25 best-rated destinations in the world, London now holds the first place ! The Capital of the United Kingdom is now named as ‘world’s best destination for 2019’ in TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice awards. Apart from the fact that this city is just amazing, how can we explain this position? There are several reasons explaining that top place. One of them is that London is full of activities. Indeed, you can find beautiful parks, museums (free for some of them). In London you can also find some of the best restaurants and an amazing nightlife for young and old people. As you can see, everybody can be quickly addicted to that London life! Moreover, during the past 12 months a lot of exceptional events happened in London, such as the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Football World Cup, which attracted lots of visitors, creating a buzzing atmosphere in the capital. It has been 2 months since I started my London life and I just can’t get enough of every place that I am discovering each day when I leave EC School, and even more on weekends. What I really like here in London is the number of activities but also, ( and especially) the diversity of restaurants, because food is my number one passion. Here are some pictures of London that I have taken since my arrival. Enjoy! If you would like to take part of ‘the London life experience’ and Learn English Abroad , then join us at EC School London and discover …
On Thursday 7th March 2019, we celebrated the World Book Day at EC London ! That day is also known as ‘World Book and Copyright Day’, or ‘International Day of the Book’. It is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, in order to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. It was a way to ask yourself how reading can improve your English learning process! I can speak about my own way of english learning and especially my love for that language, which started when I was thirteen or fourteen years old, through the poems that I was reading in books, and that I still read on social medias, at twenty-two years old. We invited all the student to come at the main reception to share with us their favorite quotes from books they read. Here are some of the quotes that the students wrote: ‘And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it’ – The Alchemist ‘ It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.’ – The Little Prince If you would like to take part of similar events and activities, then you should come and join us at EC English School London 🙂 Cheers, Maryam
Takato is an EC LONDON student from Japan. He wanted to take English Courses in London. It was a pleasure to meet him. He left his beautiful feedback to us to share: Why did you choose to study with EC? I chose here randomly and followed my instinct What do you like about London? What do you like about the school? People are tolerant. I like the combination of historical places and urban city. I like the atmosphere in the school and also teachers and staff. What will be your most unforgattable memory of EC? It must be meeting lots of great people. I spent unforgattable time with my friends. And, amazing teachers, they were always helpful and encourage me. Would you recommended EC to a friend? Why? Absolutely Yes! I assure than you can improve your English. Where is your favorite place to hang out in the evenings? What is the best thing to do on Sunday afternoon? I’d say wandering around in London is always good. My favorite is Tower Bridge in the evening. St James’ Park is the best place to chill out. We are grateful for the positive feedback that Takato gave to us and feel glad that he had a great time here :).
When I first arrived at EC London I was immediately set to work. I arrived on a Monday morning, the same time as every other new student arrives. My first task was to take pictures of the new students for their student cards. As the day continued I began to get to know the staff and the environment of EC London. Suzie Abrahamson gave me and my college Alexandra a tour of the building as well. Everyone was super nice to us and we felt like we belonged instantly. As of now I have worked at EC for about three weeks and time passes by so quickly. I am working in the 30+ reception with Giulia and Saima. We get along very nice and I am very satisfied with my working environment. A day of work usually contains me filling in papers, chasing students and emailing about various problems. During a week here no day is the same. Mondays and Fridays are probably the most different because it is the day that the students leave or arrive. I was happily surprised that EC London has such an open atmosphere. If I need help with something I can always go to anyone, regardless of their position in the firm. I’m looking forward to the rest of my stay and I hope that it will be just as good as my first three weeks. /Magnus
Fukuyo was not only a good student, but also a great EC ambassador. We had a small chat about why she chose EC and how it is. She said when she asked about the language schools to many agents, most of them recommended EC, and she heard that EC has many workshops. London was as good as she had expected. People live in London are very polite, Museums are free. To find out more interesting things, she decided to become a student ambassador, which was a great experience. She was happy to help EC. Teachers and staffs are very friendly, kind and patient. A lot of enjoyable activities to make new friends. What she enjoyed most about London was Camden Town and variety of famous musicals. Come to visit our school to know more information about IELTS Courses in London! 🙂
