EC Malta Internship — A Life Experience by Kristofer Kalen

Sharing is caring!

I arrived at Malta International Airport with four of my classmates on a sunny Monday afternoon. Our expectations were high and we’d been looking forward to this trip for a long time. I mean, who wouldn’t rather have their trainee period in “sunny Malta” instead of “rainy Sweden”? And not just the weather, we would be staying in our own apartment without any nagging parents around; we could do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted to and so on.
But when we arrived to our ‘own nice apartment’, everything wasn’t as good as we thought it would be. The apartment wasn’t clean. There were things everywhere and neither of our two bathrooms were functioning well. We started to panic and we were still trying to convince each other that we must be in the wrong apartment. But after all, there wasn’t much to do but go to sleep and hoping for a better next day, so we did.
And lucky as we were, the following day turned out to be a lot better. All five of us went for work, Lisa and I made our way to the EC Malta School and the rest of us headed off to the EC Central (EC’s Head Office). We arrived right on time after have been running around looking for EC Malta on almost the whole island. I was placed at the Customer Relations department and Lisa at the Academics. The job turned out to be great and our colleagues were very kind and helpful towards us.
After finishing work the first day, we went home and noticed that the cleaners had visited our apartment and suddenly our new Malta lives had become much better; the job was great, the apartment was fixed and the weather was great. Now the only thing missing was to try Malta’s nightlife that we’d heard so much about. And after a couple of days that was fixed too…
Since I’ve been here for a while I have to say that all my expectations have been met, I’ve improved my English, I’ve got to know a lot of nice people (especially the ones in Customer Relations Department) and of course, I’ve had a lot of fun. As a summary, I’m very pleased with my trip to Malta until now and I’m sure it will get even better. I enjoy every day here and I’m sure this trainee period at EC will definitely be a great experience.
