Confidence is learning – Club 30+ at EC Malta Language School

Sharing is caring!

Each and every teacher who has ever taught Club30+ at EC Malta Language School will tell you what a great time they have had in class. With feedback from both the teachers and the students themselves being exceedingly positive, opting for this kind of course indeed bodes well.

Because you see, this is not one of those run-of-the-mill courses. It’s a tailor-made course, so to speak, seeing as it targets a specific niche.

The students interested in these courses are, obviously, those over their 30s. Anyone younger simply can’t sit with them. One could easily consider them an exclusive kind of group who do things their way.

This is not necessarily a question of age, although it still plays a fundamental role during the decision-making process. It is more a question of maturity and more conviction. Being in these classes is such fun owing to the fact that experiences of more substantial value are shared — these are people who, albeit still young, have experienced and endured more, hence why the conversations had in the classroom reach a specific climax.

So what sets these courses apart? Why should a 35-year-old man be among his peers? The answer is not quite easy, true. But let’s think of it this way — people who have lived, have a career and, possibly, a family, are normally more determined. These people want to achieve something concrete. A 20-year-old person, on the other hand, wants to achieve but may not necessarily have that sort of drive, hence why the more mature ones could find such an attitude somewhat perplexing. This is clearly exemplified in family situations, where the parents cannot comprehend why their children do not work assiduously so as to reach milestones.

Besides that, some who have been in such courses have told us that being in Club30+ has helped them feel less conscious and more confident. By this they mean, needless to say, that they do not feel any pressure when saying certain things in, possibly, a forceful manner — this is, most certainly, on account of the fact that there is no generation gap effect in these classes. Yes, because it is normal to be a tad hesitant when you feel that what you are about to say may be interpreted as condescending by people who are much younger and thus feel that you are being patronising by imposing your age on them.

A free mind is a more receptive mind. Learning in such tranquil environments is so effective merely because people feel at ease with themselves and express their thoughts in a most sincere manner.

There’s no beating about the bush in such classes — aspects are mentioned, controversial topics are tackled, silly things are stated… at the end of the day, though, you learn English in a fast and fun way considering that you are never to feel judged, as may happen in a different kind of scenario.
