Following their English Lesson at EC Malta Language School and lunch at school the children were split into their ‘rainbow’ colored groups: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and white. The activities for the afternoon were sports, lions and tigers and Arts and Crafts.
The Arts and Crafts station was set up in the leisure room (also known as the common room) and the students were divided into four groups, each on a separate table. On each table there was a different activity – scrap booking, loom bands, coloring and drawing. The children chose the activity they wished to do and sat down, rotating between tables when they were ready to. The loom band table was especially popular and was manned by yours truly, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and there was an ample supply of the bands with which the students were creating bracelets, key chains or whatever they were creative enough to make.
Once Activities were over, the children were given some time to themselves and then we were off to Valletta. Our first stop, to the children’s excitement, was Pizza Hut. Everything ran smoothly and soon the restaurant was full of students laughing and talking while happily munching on their supper. When they were ready they were once again divided up into their colors and given instructions on that night’s activity – the Photo Hunt. The children were given a list of clues and instructions to follow all around Valletta. The winning team would win points for their team, helping their team to win on Awards Nights.
The Photo Hunt took us all around Valletta – to the Cathedral, the Barrakka, Auberge de Castille and in front of the Law Courts. The hunt ended outside Valletta, at the fountain. By this time, it was about 9:30 PM and the students were all tuckered out and ready to go back to camp. We boarded the buses and were soon on our way back.
