This weekend is Veteran’s day in the USA and as such EC Miami will be closed Monday, November 12th. There are lots of activities happening around town. This is to honor those who served in the U.S. military. One such even is happening on Miami Beach. Miami Beach Veteran’s Day Parade & Picnic. Beginning at 11:11am, watch the parade on Ocean Drive from 5th and 14th streets. The parade is followed at noon by a demonstration from the All-Veterans Parachute Team on Ocean Drive, and a wreath laying ceremony and picnic at Lummus Park, 1130 Ocean Drive. Have you heard about the New Monday Experience? New students and current students are in for a treat this month as EC Miami Pilots a new student experience program. When new students arrive on Mondays, they will be greeted by our student ambassadors. The ambassador will help them with new student paperwork and lead them to the new experience. Once done with registration, new students will join current students in the lounge for an exotic “Miami-style breakfast.” This includes coffee and tea, and meat, cheese and guava fruit pastelitos! After breakfast students will warm-up their English skills playing games such as Jenga and Connect4. After their test, student have the option to take the Miami City Bus Tour! This is A guided bus ride and walking tour around Miami and Miami Beach, Wynwood Walls Street Art District, Little Havana Cuban Neighborhood, Domino Park, and Bayside Market outdoor shopping mall. The tour finishes with an ice cream at the famous Azucar ice cream parlor.

The results of the Wii Tournament are in! Our student Daniel from Colombia has won free pizza for this upper intermediate class! Learning English in Miami, while challenging can be fun! For example. this month, Student ambassadors Jose and Marwan, decided to host a Wii Mario Kart tournament and the winner received free pizza for their class! Students has to sign-up and brackets were created. Students and challenged themselves in English to be the best they could be!. The tournament lasted 3 days.

Celebrities can be spotted on Lincoln Road and at many night clubs around the city. Several languages can be heard while strolling around the city. One of the featured activities last month was a Salsa lesson with teacher Alexis. During the morning break once a month, students are invited to the lobby to practice their dance moves. Alexis has been dancing for many years and has even competed on the dance floor. During the lesson you will learn the basic steps. After the lesson you can go out the salsa dance clubs and show off your moves!
The Bass Museum has once again opened its doors! Looking for something to do on Friday night? Go to the OVERTIME event at the new Bass Museum Starting June 29th, on select Fridays through out the summer. This summer join the museum on select Friday nights from 7-10PM. Students can enjoy a free welcome drink per guest (21+) , as well as, performances, dance, and music. Want to visit during the day? Students will find a big Botticelli at the Bass, Miami Beach’s grand little art museum.
