One out of 60,860

Sharing is caring!

This passed weekend was a truly memorable one! Besides the fact that the summer weather is making its way into the lives of Montrealers ( which is a memorable thing in itself!)  this passed Saturday will remain in the memory of all those who, fighting the traffic jams and the crowded metro, went to see the Impact de Montreal play against the LA Galaxy at the Olympic stadium.

I have to tell you it was worth it! And I’m sure that my co-workers and the EC Montreal students that also went to see this game feel the same way!

I confess that, unlike most of the female audience at the stadium, I did not go to the game because of  David Beckham, but his name teamed with the fact that the Impact de Montreal are now playing in the Major Soccer League resulted in a record breaking attendance at the Olympic stadium of 60,860. This is the highest all time attendance in Canada for a soccer match.

It was good game that ended in a tie so both teams were neither too happy, nor too sad. I would say it was a good result for the local team given the fact that LA Galaxy won the MSL last year, so our team was against one of the best teams in the league.

Our international students really got into the game and before you know it they were shouting the Impact’s cheer words “ALLEZ L’IMPACT ALLEZ… ALLEZ L’IMPACT ALÉO” as loud as the Impact’s most fervent fans. I’m sure they’ll want to see other games as son as they get the chance!

Events like this give a true measure of the passions and the energy that Montreal creates!
