We know that summer is about to end when we say farewell to our young learners and our summer staff. Yesterday was a little bitter sweet at EC Montreal. We celebrated the end of our very successful summer programme, however, we had to say good bye to all our campers and summer team.
Sophie was our summer intern for the past 3 months. We couldn’t have gone through our summer without her! She helped in all areas of running the school and our teen programme. Her smile and infectious laugh will be sorely missed. We wish her all the best with her final year of University and hope her experience at EC Montreal was all she hoped it would be and more!
Ben was our Young Learner’s Coordinator again this summer. It was his 3rd summer working with our teens! He will be the first to tell you that although the position is seasonal, by the end of the summer, it feels as though you have run a marathon! Making sure our young learners are safe, happy and inspired is not an easy feat! Ben and his team of monitors, Felipe, Marie and Jasmine, contributed to making summer 2013 unforgettable!
We made sure to give our students a memorable final day of the programme! Right after their final class, we assembled all the students underneath the Dawson College Gazebo for the certificate and awards ceremony! All the students earned their EC Montreal certificate and a special bunch received an extra award for being the most enthusiastic, the most improved, the best attendance and punctuality and awards to those who always spoke English or French!
The students were then treated to a fantastic pizza party! The students enjoyed their lunch while hanging out and making plans to keep in touch after their departure.
We sold tickets to the teen farewell party that was held last night. The theme of the party was Sushi making lessons! We had Masumi Kobari, a former EC Montreal employee come in to give our students lessons on how to roll your own sushi. The students loved it! We were all so impressed at how quickly they learned and how beautiful their rolls were! The students had a blast sharing their creations and eating delicious sushi!!
We surprised the students by handing out a group photo of all of them proudly holding up their certificates from earlier that day.
We gave them a final night at EC Montreal to remember! We hope to welcome them all back next summer!
