EC Montreal ESL Student Joel Willmann

French-speaking host family helped me a lot – Joel Willmann

Joel Willmann is a student from Germany who came to take French classes in Montreal. Here is what he would like to share about his learning experience at EC Montreal: I chose Montreal to start learning French because I would be able to communicate in English if necessary. Also I will be travelling through Canada afterwards, so it made sense to choose a Canadian city. Starting French here was probably a little bit harder than in France due to the accent, but I improved a lot during my stay so I am able to communicate here as well. It was great that my host-family spoke only French so I was forced to try speaking in French. They had a lot of patience with my speaking which was great. Here is what she would like to share about her learning experience at EC Montreal: I studied English only, but I regret not studying French. I wanted to study English, and I hope for small classes. Maple festival was very fun. I could talk to students from other country and eat delicious treats. This school’s classes are very good for me. I can speak English better than before. I wanted to find a host family. EC staff found me a new host family quickly. I was very happy with my host mother. I want to recommend EC. My new friends come from Taiwan, Korea, France, Thailand, and Japan. Haruka Mouri
