Here is what she wanted to share about her EC experience: I chose Montreal because I was fascinated by the idea of a bilingual city. I had always heard great things about Canada. The people are really kind and welcoming here and I was not disappointed. The city was so beautiful! I really loved the teachers I had here. To all our Korean students and friends out there: Happy Chuseok! EC Montreal is proud to be part of this important holiday, and since 8 % of our students this month are Korean, we are sure they appreciated today’s celebration. Our Korean students had a wonderful opportunity to introduce their non-Korean friends to the traditional dishes that they eat with their families on this holiday as well as the traditional attire. Acknowledging our student’s cultures, celebrations and holidays is yet another way students feel “at home” with EC Montreal! Everybody savored the delicious dishes to the last bite and in between bites the students got to practice some gastronomy terminology in English and French because everybody wanted to know what they were eating! The event was catered by our Student Services Manager, Reneé Lee’s family restaurant which specializes in Korean traditional dishes! A big thank you goes out to Restaurant Atti Express! We also want to thank all the Korean students for your enthusiasm and spirit today! You made the activity even better! Be sure to check out our Montreal English School ! today and experience all the great events and activities we have to offer!
Deciding to go study English abroad or to study French abroad requires a lot of decision making. One of those decisions is “where do I live while I’m away from home”? Students coming to Montreal to learn French or English have one less thing to worry about. Not only does EC Montreal have an amazing homestay programme they also have the best student residence in the city. EC Montreal’s student residence is located in the heart of Downtown Montreal, surrounded by trendy restaurants, clubs, shops, cafés and only 10 to 15 minutes walking distance to the school. La Marq residence offers free wireless internet, each apartment has central air-conditioning, kitchenette, living room, television, DVD player and bathroom. Students have the privacy of their own bedroom while sharing common areas with other EC students. Bed linens and towels are also included, one less thing to worry about. Another advantage for choosing residence living is that although the apartment only houses EC Montreal international students from all around the world, the building itself has university students from McGill and Concordia University. This is an excellent opportunity for students to practice their language of study and make friends with others in the similar age group. The residence offers weekly activities for all students. They have weekly pizza night, movie night and yoga classes. While you’re there don’t forget to take advantage of their games room or fitness centre. EC Montreal will also be hosting many student activities at the residence throughout the fall and winter season. If you are in Montreal and interested in residence living, please come to the office to speak to our Accommodation Coordinator about our fall promotion. Check out our EC Montreal school today!
October 16 is World Food Day. Poverty and hunger are issues that affect the entire planet but it is sometimes difficult for us to believe that we have people within our own Montreal community that struggle every day to put food on the table for their families. In honor of World Food Day, EC Montreal will be doing its own fundraising activity to help the needy of the Montreal community. We are asking everyone in the EC Montreal community; students, staff and teachers to bring as many non-perishable food items as they can on Tuesday, October 16. These items will be donated to the CTV Spirit of Giving campaign. For every item donated, the donor’s name will be added to a draw with a chance to win a dinner for two at a landmark Montreal restaurant! Let’s all give generously on World Food Day! Come to Montreal and study at our English school in Montreal !

Come learn English and French in Montreal!
There is a huge misconception that Montreal is too French to learn English. The province of Quebec is a French-speaking province; however, Montreal is the exception. In order to work and live in Montreal, having knowledge of both English and French is essential! Most Montrealers not only speak English and French, but also have knowledge of a 3rd and sometimes a 4th language. Visitors should not be surprised to be greeted in French by store merchants or restaurant servers, however, if you reply to the person in English, they will usually switch to English to serve you better. St-Laurent Blvd divides the city between east and west. The east is generally more French speaking and the west is more English. As you can see from our homestay map below, where the red dots represent English speaking families, the blue dots French speaking and the white dots are bilingual families, Montreal has some concentrated English and French areas. A student can be completely immersed in the English language at school, at home and in their neighborhood. EC Montreal is located in the city center, west of St-Laurent Blvd. Just sitting outside at a nearby cafe, you can hear people speaking English and French and sometimes both languages simultaneously! This makes our city truly unique and extra special. Not only will our students learn English but they will get a taste of the beautiful French language too! Many of our visitors fall in love with our city! They immediately feel welcomed and appreciate the fact that although Montreal is a large city, it has a small town feel to it. They are also surprised to learn that although we are made up of so many different cultures, religions and races, it is a very peaceful place to live. Learn in Montreal English …

Here is what Michelle would like to share about herself with all of you: My name is Michelle Ioera. I am proudly from Mexico and am 18 years old. I chose Montreal to study because I had heard many times that Montreal is an amazing city to study. I am doing a bilingual program at EC Montreal because I want to improve my English as much as possible and to learn some French. I want to be able to communicate with people from other countries. I love to know about other cultures and be surrounded by people who have interesting things to teach me. Since I was little, I had the idea that my role in this world is to be someone and to do important things based on experiences, living the moments and enjoying them. I believe that the best things happen when you least expect them. I think that as an EC student ambassador, I will be able to help new students and as I mentioned learn more about them.
