EC Montreal’s November Teachers of the Month!

The ballots are in and have been counted!  We are thrilled to announce EC Montreal’s November teachers of the month!  Every month, our students have a chance to cast their vote for their favorite teacher and to write down comments about them.  It always makes us so happy to see that every single one of our teachers receives votes and it warms our hearts to see how very much our teachers are appreciated. This month, our students voted for Fred Paiement as the English teacher of the month and Jasmine Akem as the French teacher of the month! We surprised them in class with a teacher of the month certificate and gift.  The students cheered and posed proudly with their teachers.  We want to thank all our teachers for their hard work, dedication and passion.  It is clear our students think the world of you all.  Thank you to all the students who voted and for all your wonderful comments.  We are happy to share them with everyone below: Good teacher. EC Montreal’s Annual Tree Trimming Party!

This afternoon, EC Montreal held its annual tree trimming party.  It is a time to get together as an EC community and decorate the student lounge for the festive season of Christmas.  EC Montreal purchased a new tree last winter year with sparkling orange ornaments.  Now we can really say it is an “EC” tree! The students had a great time decorating the tree and getting in the Christmas spirit.  Many spoke about their own Christmas traditions back home.  For some, it was their 2nd tree trimming activity as they already helped their homestay hosts decorate for the holidays!  The Christmas season started early this year as we already have so much snow on the ground.  The Christmas lights in the city also really contribute to everyone being in such a festive mood! We played Christmas music, served festive treats and hung decorations on our beautiful tree! Happy holidays from our EC Montreal family to yours! Learn a language at our Montreal Language School!

Mariana Velez Acosta From Colombia: “I improved more than I expected…”

Mariana Velez Acosta is a lovely woman from Colombia participating in EC Montreal’s French programme.  Mariana used to work for one of EC’s biggest Colombian travel agencies, Grasshopper.  She told us that EC Montreal is one of the best language schools she has ever worked with or attended.  This is high praise coming from such a prestigious agency.  Sadly, this is her last week at EC.  Here is what she wanted to share with everyone about her EC experience: Studying French at EC Montreal from Debutant to Intermédiaire in 12 weeks gave me the opportunity to get to know all the levels here and as a conclusion, I would say that EC provides you with the tools you need to succeed.  It depends on every student to make the most of it, having a good attitude and always willing to learn.  The teachers are always happy to help.  They repeat every time if it is necessary and they are kind to you because they understand there are always new cultures and personalities.  I cannot thank you enough.  I improved more than I expected.  I am surprised!!  I definitely will recommend this experience to everyone, but I recommend you to feel it, demonstrate you really wanted it and enjoy it, so you’ll see how far it will take you! EC Montreal’s Tips to Avoid the Flu!

Although winter is a magical month in Montreal with all the holiday festivities and beautiful snow days, winter is also flu season.  Maybe it’s the lack of sunshine or the cold weather affecting our immune system, winter is when most people get sick with the flu.  Health care professionals recommend that everybody get the flu shot to prevent catching the flu virus.  They also recommend that everyone do the following: eat well and foods rich in vitamin C and zinc stay hydrated by drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day wash hands regularly cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing to avoid spreading the virus stay active and physically fit avoid touching your nose, mouth or eyes avoid sharing eating utensils stay home if you do have flu like symptoms to avoid spreading the virus keep your extremities warm outdoors;  head, hands and feet EC Montreal language school students can always get the flu shot at a neighborhood pharmacy or make an appointment at a walk-in clinic.  We want everyone to enjoy the magical winter season in Montreal and avoid being sick in bed for days with the flu. Even our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has set the example and has shared his experience getting the flu shot this year.  His message is protect yourself and everyone else. Wishing a happy and healthy winter season in Montreal!

Chankyu Lee From Korea: “It was great…”

Chankyu Lee is a student from Korea participating in EC Montreal’s Intensive English programme.  Sadly, today is his last day at EC.  Here is what he wanted to share with everyone about his EC experience: I chose Montreal because I like quiet cities and nature.  It was great.  Kind, friendly people and many parks.  Everything was good.  I have never been to another English school before.  I think that the EC school has a set systematic schedule that really works.  They have funny activities, tour packages.  They make sure that we are well adjusted in school and in Montreal.  If someone tries to improve their English skills, they can do that here.  EC offers many things for students.
