As it is national health and fitness month in Canada, at EC Montreal, we decided to make that our theme this May. All our complimentary activities are about healthy living and taking care of ourselves. We have already held a fitness class and a letter writing activity and today, we held a healthy lunch activity.
We transformed the student lounge into a salad bar. The bar in the lounge was set up with a variety of lettuce, vegetables, corn, bean salad, and fun salad toppings!
The students had so much fun creating their small bowls of salad. It made us so happy to see them come out from their classes to be surprised by the colourful food display. Some cheered – “fee lunch”!
At EC Montreal we love to create these opportunities for students to interact with one another and create a sense of an EC community at the school. We want them to hang out to make friends, practice their language skills and have fun!
These complimentary activities are essential in creating this wonderful atmosphere at the school where the staff can socialize with the students and get to know them on a more personal level. This is how we learn our students’ names and are able to connect with them. We appear a lot more approachable to them and so if they do have any issues or concerns, they will feel comfortable speaking with us.
We look forward to another great activity next week with a taste of Quebec beer to celebrate the world beer festival taking place at the central station this month!
We will end the month with a self-defense class lead by a fitness instructor and black belt in karate! We can’t wait!
What happens outside the classroom is just as important as what happens inside! So, join our English courses in Montreal to participate in so many after school events!
