A few years ago, Montreal was named the gastronomy capital of North America by Towne and Country magazine because of the diversity, quality of restaurants, number of establishments as well as its culinary classes and neighborhood food tours. This is one of the reasons we felt the English or French plus programme in Montreal should be gastronomy.
Today we have learned that Movinga, a relocation expert organization, has named Montreal as one of the best cities in the world to open a new restaurant. We came in ninth place. We are the only North American city to make the top ten list. Movinga looked at seventy-five cities. The study looked to see in which city opening a new restaurant would be not only possible but sustainable.
The report looked at each city’s real estate cost, human capital and hospitality ecosystem on a scale of zero to one hundred.
Lisbon, Barcelona and Istanbul took the top three spots.
More reason for EC Montreal to celebrate this wonderful food lover’s paradise that is Montreal!
Montreal is only second to New York City for having the most restaurants per capita with over six thousand restaurants on the island of Montreal! They say that you can eat out three times a day for fifteen years and not frequent the same restaurant twice! How impressive is that?!
