EC Montreal offers many different kinds of accommodation options to our students. We have so many different students that possess so many different likes and needs. For the more executive client or families travelling together, a hotel or furnished apartment may be the better option. They can be more independent and have the luxury of their own private kitchen and hotel services. EC Montreal works with Trylon Apartments. They are located right in the city center, approximately 15 minutes away from EC Montreal, walking distance. The apartment complex offers hotel-like services including cleaning and laundry. Students have the choice between a studio, one or two-bedroom suites.
The next popular option is student residence. EC Montreal works with La Marq. It is located close to the McGill Metro station, which is only two metro stations away from EC Montreal. At La Marq, students have their own private bedroom within a shared apartment. The apartment has a shared kitchen, dining room, living room and two shared full baths. In addition, the residence offers a games room, a music room, a theater room, a fitness room, study rooms and several lounge areas. The residence offers free evening activities like pizza night, movie night and yoga classes. This is a wonderful option as 90% of the residents at La Marq are university students, so EC Montreal students have wonderful opportunities to speak with native English speakers.
For the students traveling on budget, EC Montreal works with a youth hostel called M Montreal. They have the option of rooming with 2 to 14 other people. Even though it is a dorm style accommodation, each bed has its own cocoon, so students have a lot of privacy. The accommodation includes breakfast and there are shared kitchen facilities for students’ use. M Montreal offers 24-hour reception and has a lot of great amenities as well. The location is wonderful! It is located between the Gay Village and the Quartier Latin. It is approximately 20 minutes away from EC Montreal by public transportation.
EC Montreal also works with a summer residence called the Grey Nuns that is literally a 2-minute walk from EC Montreal. This residence is available from mid-May to mid-August. Students have their own private bedroom with shared bathrooms on every floor. The residence has a cafeteria and offers meal plans at a very good price. The residence has wonderful grounds with picnic tables and even a volleyball court.
The most popular type of homestay, however, is homestay. A student can be full immersed in the English or French language by staying with a Canadian family. Students have the option of English, French or Bilingual families. The average family lives 20 to 45 minutes away from EC Montreal by public transportation. Starting in 2020, students will have the choice of roomstay, half-board or full-board accommodation. Roomstay is only the room. Students will still have free wifi as well as laundry services available to them. The homestays will change their sheets and towels weekly. Half-board offers two meals per day; breakfast and dinner. Full-board includes a bagged lunch. EC Montreal works with a wonderful group of homestay hosts that have really become part of our EC family. They go the extra mile every day for our students and really create a “home away from home” for our clients.
EC Montreal homestay hosts are re-inspected every three years as per Languages Canada standards and are evaluated on an on-going basis from our students. These factors effective quality control.
