You better not shout, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why….Santa Claus came to town!
On Saturday, November 23, the city of Montreal hosted its 69th annual Santa Claus Parade. After the parade, the shopping malls open their Santa village to the public! The parade usually takes place on Ste-Catherine Street, but because of the construction close to the Quartier des Spectacles, they changed the venue to Rene-Levesque Boulevard. The parade started on Fort Street and went all the way down to Jeanne-Mance. There were so many different floats from the television stations, radio stations and other big organizations. In addition, there were musicians from local schools performing beautifully. There were bands and twirlers! For the first time ever, the Cirque du Soleil had a float promoting their new skating show called Axel!
There were so many of Santa’s helpers dancing and entertaining the crowd. They even distributed candy canes to the children lined up along the street!
EC Montreal students were out enjoying the parade with the rest of the city! The weather was nice and mild, so you can enjoy the outdoor parade for hours waiting for the main attraction – the arrival of Santa Claus! He waved and smiled at all the people and blew kisses to the little ones and belted out “ho ho ho” for all to hear!
Everyone gave such a wonderful performance and succeeded at spreading Christmas cheer to all the spectators. After the parade many students went shopping in the underground to catch a glimpse of the Christmas decorations and Santa villages. Some students gathered together for a group lunch while others decided to catch a holiday movie at the Scotia Bank theater. The Frozen 2 movie was the biggest hit at the box office this weekend!
