Here at EC New York, we offer various programs and courses to students who are striving to make English their second language. To enhance our students’ experience, we have also made it our mission to promote cross-cultural education. Nowhere is that more apparent than inside our classrooms: a linguistically diverse group of talented, enthusiastic students from all different backgrounds. Chances are you probably already know this and that is why you are here now.

However, did you know EC similarly offers a junior program tailored to the needs of young learners? Our personalized lessons will allow our fledgling friends to have a summer camp like experience brimming with fun activities and help them succeed in their English lessons. There is no greater joy than studying abroad and immersing yourself into a brand new culture, especially if it is in a great city such as New York! For those of you who have younger brothers or sisters that may be interested in our program, family members are always welcomed!

Below are a few excerpts from blogs that were written by two of our very own student from this year’s Junior Program, Claire and Denis! Try to recreate their journey as you read these first hand narratives.

On June 29th at 5 pm French time, I took a plane to New York. It was the first time that I traveled so far away, alone without any cultural reference. I have always dreamt to go to New York because I saw it in movies, in magazines, in famous American series…New York is an amazing city with a great history and many well known monuments.I arrived in the residence on saturday evening and I was warmly welcomed  as a new student in the EC school.

Rooms keys were  distributed to us. I would share the same room as two girls who were the same age as I am: one was coming from Ukraine and the other one was coming from Spain.

On Monday morning we had class. We took the test that allowed us to know in which group we were going to be. In the afternoon we went to Central Park and in the evening we had a Welcome Pizza Party where I met more people. On Tuesday morning we went to Chelsea Market. Some food shops and other shops are in the Chelsea Market.  We had class in the afternoon and then we had a free evening. I went out with friends met at the beginning of the week .So ends my very first real day in the United States.

We had to visit South Street Seaport in the evening but it began to rain so the visit was cancelled and we had a had a free evening. Thursday was a special day for American people because it was the Independence Day. We had no class this day.

We went shopping in SoHo in the afternoon and  we saw fireworks in Central Park in the evening.

We had class on Friday morning and we went to Rockefeller Center in the afternoon. It was a free evening so I stayed with my friends. We had activities on Saturday: we spent all day long at the Statue of Liberty. We arrived by boat under a blazing heat and we walked around the islands.we took many pictures. It was very impressive to see it in real because I always saw it on TV or on the Internet. It was my very first time and my very first week in New York and I think It was the best of my life.

It was amazing trip to New York! There are a lot of interesting places to see. But when my friends ask me about the most memorable thing for me, I always say that it is not a thing, It is my teacher!
