New York can be a tough place during the summer because of the heat, frequent thunderstorms, and infamous humidity. Most indoor activities are expensive, and it is often too hot and humid to spend the day outdoors. The Brooklyn Bridge Film festival is currently in its fifteenth season of screening movies with a constant theme, against a backdrop of the most incredible view of Manhattan. This summer, the theme is science fiction featuring movies such as Sharknado and Beetlejuice. Extra bonus: there is a DJ mixing music from 6:00 until sunset before the movie. So grab a scoop of homemade ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and enjoy the music, sunset, movie, and spectacular views. 2014 is the twelfth year of the Central Park Film Festival, screening movies in Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Unfortunately, this series only lasts for one week in August, so be sure to check it out! The gates open at 6:30 and screening start around 8:00, or right after sunset.
