What do you do in the Netherlands?
I just finished my university and I wanted to do something different before working, so that’s when I found the school. I wanted to go abroad for a long period and I wanted to go to New York, so I was looking for something to combine.

Why are you learning English?
I like improving my English because it’s a language that’s used a lot all over the world. That’s the main reason. Speaking was hard for me in the beginning, and that went well.

Why did you choose to study at EC?
I was looking at some different schools too, and I like that EC is in the middle of Manhattan. The location is perfect. Also, I read blogs and reviews from other students.

Why did you decide to study in New York City?
I’ve been here before and I really like the city and I wanted to go here after I decided to do a language course.

What did you like most about your EC experience?
The main thing is making friends from all over the world and learning different cultures, languages, and habits of other people.

What did you like most about living in New York City?
There’s always something to do in the city that’s fun. It is so big and so diverse. Everywhere it’s different.

Share a highlight or a specific memorable experience: When my friend had to leave, we did brunch with a group of girls from class. We made plans to meet each other next year.

What advice would you offer to a new student?
I think just go to a lot of activities to meet a lot of new people. Most people come here alone and it’s nice to make new friends and I think the activities are a good thing to do here. Especially on your first day!

Where is your favorite place in New York City?
I think maybe Brooklyn Bridge Park. You can see the bridge and whole skyline.

Share some fun facts about yourself:
I’m normally a more quiet person and here I have to talk a lot, so that’s good! I like sports, like playing volleyball and running.

Best of luck, Kim!  At EC, you can learn English in USA, too.
