Happy Friday the Thirteenth!
Friday the 13th has had the reputation of generating bad luck for centuries. The number thirteen has been associated with bad luck even longer: since the time of Christ when Judas the betrayer became the thirteenth guest at the last supper. It is unclear when or how Friday became involved with the number, but it has become a day filled with superstition.
People change many of their normal routines, such as work and flying, to avoid bad luck. The fear of Friday the thirteenth called friggatriskaidekaphobia. People stricken with this phobia can rest easy this year because today is the only Friday the 13th in 2011.
