EC Teachers Use the “Streets of San Francisco” to teach English

Our school is situated in the heart of downtown San Francisco and our teachers use our surroundings creatively for students to practice what they have learned, to interact with our neighbors and to develop confidence in speaking English in real world situations. Some recent examples include:

Our Beginner class had an alphabet scavenger hunt, searching the nearby shops, cafes and out door areas for vocabulary words from A-Z.

Our Business English class (Intermediate to Advanced) were studying advertising and used the streets to identify a variety of advertising graphics.

Another class when to the nearby Ferry Building Farmer’s Market and had to ask for information about various foods from the vendors and report back to their class.
