Sunday May 15th was the 100th running of San Francisco’s famous “Bay to Breakers” footrace. The Bay to Breakers 12k is one of the world’s largest footraces, held annually in San Francisco, California. There were more than 55,000 runners and walkers this year. The 7.46 mile (12 kilometer) race features world-class athletes in addition to costumed runners and ‘fun-loving’ folks out for a great day of running and walking through San Francisco. This race crossed the most popular neighborhoods of San Francisco, so it is a good way to discover the city. Many students and staff of EC San Francisco participated at this big and crazy race and the big outdoor party that followed.
“I’m Chahib, EC San Francisco’s new intern and every Monday, I go to the “ Soccer Fours” with a several students from EC San Francisco. Soccer Fours played by 4 players per team with a small goals and a small field. It is a great way to play sports and meet other people. Indeed on average, there are about 40 people from all over San Francisco who play every Monday.People come play even if the weather isn’t good like this week when it was raining, proof that the soccer is very popular in US contrary to popular belief.”
One of the surprises about our beautiful city is that “summer” weather here can be very surprising to many visitors. From June through Mid-August we get a LOT of cool, breezy, foggy days…in face the famous author, Mark Twain once said “the coldest winter I ever spent was one summer in San Francisco.” Of course he was exaggerating….but be prepared with a warm jacket….and be ready to carry it again when the sun comes out again!
On May 10th, we completed one full year of operations. We have gone from 2 students on our first day, to over 80 in May 2011!
