I´m so glad to share with you my experience I had living in Canada. My trip to Vancouver was my first trip outside of my country. I went there to learn English, but I actually learned a lot more! EC opened their doors to me in September. When I arrived, I had a low English level, but I was able learn fast, because I had incredible teachers who worked really hard. A very special moment for me was when I went to Whistler. I saw the snow for the first time. It was a magical and unforgettable experience for me. I will always remember it! The best parts of my stay in Vancouver were being able to learn about cultures, meeting incredible people, and having amazing experiences. I am so thankful for my school, my teachers, my unforgettable friends and my lovely homestay mom. ====== Do you want to learn English in Canada? EC offers English courses in Vancouver!

Suddenly, I saw an animal crossing the path. My first thought was, “It’s a wolf, I mean, I’m in Canada..”. However it was too small to be a wolf. When I told my homestay father about this experience, he said: “There are coyotes sometimes!”. That was big surprise to me! At the begging of the month, I visited a lot of tourists hotspots. For example: Canada Place, Stanley Park, Aquarium. All of the places are so beautiful. Camila is a Brazilian student who graduated from EC this year. Here is her story: Studying at EC Studying in EC Vancouver was the best thing that ever happened to me. From the very first day of the school, people were so nice and friendly. They helped me with everything that I needed. I stayed for one month in the upper Intermediate class. The general English classes were the best. I loved my teachers. They taught me such much and they were really funny, open minded, and really good teachers. My classmates were the best. We were so close, always helping each other, which made our class more fun. After class we always went together to do some activities, because Vancouver is a fun place! I had two different classes every week, one with David and other with my candian/mexican teacher! They were the best, always making cool lessons and talking about interesting things. My classmates were my best friends while I was there. We all met in group activity, in which we discussed the topic “why Canada?”. After that, we were always together. The activities were so cool, because the girls that did the activities became our friends, always helping and talking to us. I was always in the school, because that was where I would meet up with my friends, from different classes and ages. The girls at the reception were so lovely! I loved them. They would help me when I was sick and they would always talk with me and share their experiences. The best place was the library – oh I loved that place! We would study there, and someone always came along to sit there and start a new friendship! For me, every day was perfect! I really didn’t care about waking up at 6 in the morning to go …
Aylin is a Mexican student who graduated from EC this year. Here is her story: Friends made in Canada My name is Valeria and I’m from Mexico, I spent 9 months in Vancouver and it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was more than just a trip. I was there to study English. Even though I had school, I still had time to see amazing places in Canada, like Grouse Mountain, Cypress, Deep cove and some other wonderful places. I’m a social person, so for me, making friends from around the world was the greatest feeling that I’ve ever had, because we could share knowledge and experiences with each other. Mexican people are used to being with a lot of people, so maybe that’s why we enjoy to have a lot of friends. However, when it’s time to leave, it’s really hard to say goodbye to the people and memories you had there. I’m really happy to have had this experience and I would like to thank EC for the opportunity. Advice for Mexican students Vancouver is really safe, so don’t be afraid to the city. There are good Mexican restaurants downtown, so don’t worry if you miss your food – you will find good places to eat. Bring a pair of rain boots, an umbrella and some waterproof jackets, because in the city, it rains a lot. However, the most importantly, bring your own sauce, because in Vancouver nothing is spicy! ====== Learn English in Canada with EC Vancouver!
Alessandra is a Swiss student who graduated from EC this year. This is her story: Trips and Activities Enjoyed in Canada We went from Calgary to Vancouver in 9 days. One of my best friends and I traveled through the Rocky Mountains over one week and it was one of the best experience I’ve ever had. Two close friends, a car and nothing more than nature and a road. We went from Calgary, to the beautiful Banff, over to Lake Louise. We made a small stop at Peyto Lake to Golden, went further to Revelstoke, and then on to Kamloops. Last but not least, we went to Whistler and then back to Vancouver. The whole trip showed me how great nature can be. This earth is so diverse. We were surrounded by snow, broad-leaf and fir forest, desert, mountain, bears, moos and deer. I also learned how peaceful the nature is. I finally felt free and calm – away from stress and daily routines. We spent our nights in hostels and Airbnb with the most warmhearted, generous and welcoming people I’ve ever met. It was a great trip and I really, really miss Canada. I’ll come back, someday Advice for Swiss students Try to see as much as possible. That doesn’t mean spend a lot of money and travel far away. Enjoy the nature, enjoy yourself and use your time to the fullest. Canada is a beautiful country, which offers you many activities. You can hike in Lynn Valley, do the Grouse grind, visit Fort Langley, bathe under a waterfall or visit Vancouver island to do some Whale watching or the best activity there – SURFING! Be yourself and take every moment how it comes. ====== Do you want to learn English in Canada? EC offers English courses in Vancouver!
Jonathan is a Brazilian student who graduated from EC this year. Here is his story: Friends Made in Vancouver When I first thought about going to Canada, my main goal was to get myself ready for the IELTS Exam. So my initial focus was to study English. When I arrived in Vancouver, I was faced with people from all over the world: Japan, China, Switzerland, Brazil, Colombians, you name it! Sometimes, you could even find a native Canadian among the crowd haha (yes, that’s how diverse Vancouver is). After I started making some friends, I came to realize that learning English was not only about staying at school, or in your room, reading books and writing all day long. I noticed that learning English was way more complex than that. Learning English (or any other language ), is about becoming part of the culture, and interacting with people, the same way you would in your native country. Sometimes, the language-learning process should run in the background, while the getting-to-know-people process runs in the foreground, allowing you to meet different people, and understand their passions, and objectives. The opportunity to get out of the box and share experiences with people from all over the world, is something that everyone should be able to do once in their lives. Listen, as much as you speak, because when you speak, you talk about something you know, but when you listen, you might learn something new. EC Vancouver definitely helped me during this time, by allowing me to meet fantastic people, with awesome teachers and interesting social events. All of the friends that I made during my stay in Canada are important to me, because each of them reminds me of how big and diverse the world is. Also, they helped me become a better person, and …
Gabriela is a Mexican student who graduated from EC this year. Here is her story: Trip to Seattle One activity I that enjoyed was going to Seattle. That city is incredible, it has nice weather and the people are so kind and amazing. In Seattle, I went to the Space Needle tower and that was awesome. It has a marvelous view from the top. Also, I went to the Pike Place Market and I bought some souvenirs. The first starbucks was the last place that I visited in Seattle, and I didn’t forget to order my latte. To sum it up, all of these these places were incredible and, I will definitely come back in the future. Advice for Mexican students My advice would be to go skiing, and of course, to visit other places such as Capilano bridge, Grouse Mountain and so on. And do not forget to wear special jackets and gloves if you go in winter. ====== Do you want to learn English in Canada? EC offers English courses in Vancouver!
