Sungbae Park (Rocco) shares his EC experience!

Sungbae Park from Korea would like to share his experience while learning English in Vancouver with EC! I have been staying in Vancouver for 7 months. One of my favorite things in Vancouver is the clear sky in summer and my favorite place is Deep cove because it has an amazing view when I’m on the top of the mountain. There is a restaurant near Deep Cove where we can eat rice ball(Onigiri) and it is really good! I also recommend a pub, Jimmy’s, which is the cheapest pub that I know. 🙂 I’ve been spending the best time of my life in Vancouver. I have improved my English a lot at EC Vancouver. They have amazing teachers and staff members! Meeting new people and making good memories with them is the best experience that I have ever had!

Machi Tominaga shares her i-Exit experience!

My friends and I went to a “Escape room” at i-Exit in downtown on August 24th. The game is that we are locked in some rooms and have to find some clues and the way to get out of the rooms within one hour. There are three different themes and we chose “Doomed Win in Vegas.” It was so complicated and hard to find the clues, and it made us hurry. I cannot explain the atmosphere! We made a lot of mistakes and struggled to find some hidden clues, even though they were so obvious and easy to find sometimes. I tried to do my best but I didn’t have any idea and could only find one clue. However, my friends were so supportive and smart, and they helped me a lot. That is why, we could finally finish the game. I felt that my friends and I became closer! I haven’t experienced that kind of game before and I really love it. If you want to experience amazing and fun stuff in Vancouver, you should go to this place! ====== Are you looking for an English School in Vancouver? Minori shares her first time to experience the escape room!

“On August 24th, 6 interns were given a chance to experience the escape room “i-exit”!! It was my first time to experience the escape room so I was very excited but at the same time a little scared as I didn’t know what was going to happen! We had an hour to solve problems that were necessary for us to “escape” from the room. I can’t tell you how we attempted to “escape” because that’s the fun part of this activity! However, what I can tell you is that “i-exit” is something that can make you feel successful and tighten a friendship bond with your friends!! Gather with your friends today and experience the excitement that you won’t feel in your daily life! ” ====== Would you like to study English in Canada? EC has an English school in Vancouver!

EC Interns

EC Intern, Tania Soto Martinez, had a great time at i-Exit in Downtown Vancouver!

On Monday, August 24th, my friends and I went to try the escape room at i-Exit in Downtown Vancouver. What is an escape room game? Basically, you are locked in a room and you need to find how to get out within an hour! There are different themes and we chose “Doomed to Win in Vegas”. It had 3 different areas (a reception, a bedroom and a casino) and the level of difficulty increased from room to room. We had a lot of fun trying to discover how to get to the next room and looking for items, clues or hidden codes, which sometimes were so obvious that we didn’t see them! I can recommend this experience to all of you, we had a great time, it was really challenging and we laughed a lot! The staff members at i-Exit are really nice and helpful, they gave us a couple of hints when we got stuck, so we could finish the game on time and solve all the puzzles. I will absolutely come back again to try another theme. It is a great idea to go with your friends one evening because it is a team game and it is really fun!   Luckily for you guys, EC Vancouver is running 2 trips there on the 15th and 22nd of September. To join experience this great activity, please sign up at front desk. The activity will be 20$ 🙂     ====== Would you like to come and take English courses in Vancouver? Sunghae Choi from Korea shares his experience in Vancouver!

Sunghae Choi has been in Vancouver for three months and he would like to share his experience in Vancouver. He was participating in EC Vancouver’s Intensive English Course for 3 months. He had a great time in Vancouver enjoying the nature and spending time with his friends from EC Vancouver. He told us “the best place I’ve visited was White Rock.” Although it is far from downtown Vancouver, the breathtaking landscape made him feel so happy and relaxed. He likes the beautiful sea view and the long train track. He continues that when visiting White Rock, you must go and try the ice cream there because it was so good! He also recommended studying English in Vancouver with EC if you are thinking about studying English abroad!

Sunju Lee from Korea “I am excited what’s coming next while learning English with EC Vancouver!”

Sunju Lee from Korea would like to share her EC experience! She has been learning English for almost 2 months at EC Vancouver. I arrived in Vancouver on the 9th of July.  At first, it was really hard for me to adapt to everything because everything was new for me. In particular, I couldn’t understand what my teacher and classmates said in class because she was speaking English so fast that I couldn’t pick up. Sometimes, I asked them to speak again . I felt sorry and embarrassed when I asked them to repeat again. HOWEVER, these days I feel more comfortable when I talk with my classmates. Also, I am satisfied with my class, IELTS and my teacher. On weekends, I go to touristy places such as Lynn Canyon and Deep Cove. Because I don’t know when I will go back to Korea, I try to make the most of my time in Vancouver and enjoy with my friends. I am excited about what’s coming next while learning English with EC Vancouver.

Rafaela Fraga from Brazil “I enjoyed being here having a lot of different experiences in my life.”

Rafaela is from Brazil and she was studying English at EC Vancouver. She told us that Vancouver is a very beautiful city not just because everything works well but also because it has incredibly beautiful nature everywhere. At EC Vancouver, Rafaela made a lot of friends while she was learning English and she enjoyed the culture diversity here as it made her more open-minded and know more about different cultures. Another thing she liked a lot was she could indulge herself with international food. She says: “I enjoyed being here having a lot of different experiences in my life.”

The Caesar Cocktail, aka the Canadian Bloody Mary

One of the things that I love about Vancouver is the amount and variety of restaurants and bars you can find in this city. From Mexican to Greek to Indian and Asian cuisines, it is just difficult sometimes to make a decision at dinner time. People complain about the fact that Canadians don’t have a typical dish (besides poutine, of course!) but what most don’t know is that actually, Canadians can show off their typical drink because it is, from my point of view, a drink to be proud of. Today I am going to reveal to you the CAESAR! A Caesar or Bloody Caesar is a cocktail created and primarily consumed in Canada. It typically contains vodka, clamato (a proprietary blend of tomato juice and clam broth), hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and it is served with ice in a large, celery salt-rimmed glass, typically garnished with a stalk of celery and wedge of lime. It was invented in Calgary, Alberta in 1969 and it quickly became a popular mixed drink within Canada where over 350 million Caesars are consumed annually and it has inspired numerous variants. You can order a Caesar in every single bar in Vancouver but if you want to take my advice, go find the Score on Davie (1262 Davie St, Vancouver BC V6E 1N3). Say goodbye to the traditional one with celery and the lone pickled bean and try these evolved ones! If you are more into sharing… you can also go for the “Check mate!” ====== Would you like to come and take English courses in Vancouver? Join EC Vancouver to study English in Vancouver!

Lukas Cornel Eberle talks about his language stay in Vancouver!

Lukas Cornel Eberle from Switzerland would like to share about how much he loved studying English in Vancouver with EC! “How does one know that s/he had the perfect language stay? Exactly, when one doesn’t regret anything. How happy I am to say that my language stay was perfect. Hi, my name is Lukas and I’m a Swiss guy. I’d been in Vancouver for 5 ½ months and it was the best time of my life. In the end, it was hard to say goodbye and I nearly didn’t want to leave. Here are some reasons why: – I am extremely excited about the school I have chosen: EC. I met so many great people – students, teachers and staff – all of them were so nice and it was a lot of fun with them. Even now, after I have left Vancouver, I’m still messaging with some friends I made in EC. – In my last two months, I decided to be a student ambassador. I really like to organize and lead activities for students and I also like to speak and meet new people. It’s unbelievable how many new people I have met through my student ambassador work. Every Monday, student ambassadors will welcome the new students in EC and therefore I could get in touch with so many students. It was just great. The activities we plan were great as well. When we did something, we had a lot of fun. My advice to you is to join the activities, because they will help you making new friends and to improve your English. And of course, you will have fun! – The nature that surrounds Vancouver is incredible. My friends and I went hiking many times in Lynn Canyon Park, Deep Cove or Grouse Mountain. And every hike was a unique … Read more
