Take Notes: A Unique Exploration of Music and English
Did you know that March is Women’s History Month? One of our teachers, Yesenia, took the opportunity to celebrate female empowerment through the medium of music, in our latest edition of the weekly academic workshops about English and music. The class is called “Take Notes” and has already been incredibly popular. Our workshops are free for all students and provide an opportunity to explore topics that are different or unusual for a classroom.
The song of choice this week was “Like a Boy” by Ciara. Students actually learned the lyrics and sang a long with the music! It was wonderful to see students having fun, building their confidence, and also practicing their pronunciation and speaking rhythm!
This week’s workshop was incredibly well-attended, as we had 11 students from countries as diverse as Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Where else can you get such an interesting mix of different cultures to discuss popular music and improve their English? This is a great example of what makes EC Washington DC such a special school for you to learn English.
