Improve your English, take part in fun activities and stay with locals! Homestay provides a friendly and comfortable home for students during their stay in Brighton, plus great exposure to the English language and culture. All homestay providers are visited before they are accepted to host students to ensure comfort and safety.

English School

Lessons are held at EC Brighton and at EC Young Learners Ovingdean Hall.

EC Brighton from 19th June until 30th June & 14th August until 18th August.

EC Young Learners Ovingdean Hall from 2nd July until 18th August.

English Course

General English – 20 lessons (15 hours) per week. The course will help improve English language skills by focusing on the key areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. A strong focus is placed on speech and using the language confidently and fluently.

Lessons are engaging and designed especially for young learners. Teachers aim to satisfy any interest, with a focus on communication to boost students' confidence when using English in practical situations. Regular tests and conversation classes help to ensure that students improve their English as much as possible.

Our dedicated and professional teaching staff provide feedback and support and help students build confidence to speak English.

Accommodation

Homestay

Living in a homestay in Brighton is a new and wonderful experience. Students will have the unique opportunity to share the day to day life of the homestay providers as well as all the diversity of British culture. EC staff members are available at all times to help students adjust to life in a new environment, and to serve as a liaison between them and their homestay provider.

Getting to school & activities

Average bus journey to school/city centre is 40 minutes. Our families are situated within reach of the school by bus. A weekly bus pass costs about £25 per week and students must purchase it from the school on their first day (This price is subject to change).

Meals

Breakfast
Students receive a continental breakfast at their host family.

Lunch
Lunch (from 03/07 until 11/08)
Lunch is provided on Campus and consists of a choice of one or two hot dishes (including a vegetarian option), salad, bread roll, yoghurt or fruit dessert, juice or water. Packed lunches will be provided by the students' homestay provider at the weekend

Lunch (from 17/06 until 30/06 and from 14/08 until 18/08)
Lunch is provided in various outlets in Brighton city centre, these may include restaurants such as British, Italian, Chinese and American, offering a variety of cuisines. Social Leaders will accompany students to pre-arranged restaurants each day. Packed lunches will be provided by the students' homestay provider at the weekend.

Dinner
Hot meal will be provided each evening at the Homestay. E.g. Pasta, chicken, beef, pork, pizza, or hamburgers.

This programme is ideal for students who want to improve their English skills while preparing for recognised English examinations like Trinity and Cambridge. All Exam Preparation classes cover essential skills, with fixed examination dates.

Watersports

EC is excited to bring students a variety of exciting activities, including wakeboarding, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, and sailing, catering to students of all abilities and experience. This programme is perfect for Young Learners who are looking to get the most out of this stunning and typically English seaside town!
