Homestay provides a warm and comfortable home for students during their stay in Cambridge and offers exposure to the English language, culture and way of life.

Learning Centre

EC Cambridge

Lessons are held at EC's modern school in the centre of Cambridge. Excellent facilities create a great environment for focused study, and our friendly staff help our junior students feel relaxed, at home, and ready to learn. 

English Course

General English – 20 lessons (15 hours) per week. The course will help improve English language skills by focusing on the key areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. A strong focus is placed on speech and using the language confidently and fluently.

Lessons are engaging and designed especially for young learners. Teachers aim to satisfy any interest, with a focus on communication to boost students' confidence when using English in practical situations. Regular tests and conversation classes help to ensure that students improve their English as much as possible.

Our dedicated and professional teaching staff provide feedback and support and help students build confidence to speak English.

Accommodation

Homestay

Room Type: Twin room - students are placed in a twin room with other students of the same gender but different nationality

Living in a homestay in Cambridge is a new and wonderful experience. Students will have the unique opportunity to share the day to day life of the homestay providers as well as all the diversity of British culture. EC staff members are available at all times to help students adjust to life in a new environment, and to serve as a liaison between them and their homestay provider.

EC’s accommodation staff visit all Homestay providers before they are accepted to host students and then follow up with regular home visits to ensure the comfort and safety of our students.

Homestays are usually in the Cherry Hinton, Arbury, Chesterton & New Chesterton areas of Cambridge.

Heathrow: approx 1.5 hours

Meals

Breakfast

Students receive a continental breakfast at their host family. 

Lunch

Lunch is provided in various outlets in Cambridge city centre, these may include restaurants such as British, Italian, Chinese and American, offering a variety of cuisines. Social Leaders will accompany students to pre-arranged restaurants each day. Packed lunches will be provided by the students' homestay provider at the weekend.

Dinner

A hot meal will be provided each evening at the Homestay. e.g. pasta, chicken, beef, pork, pizza, or hamburgers.

Please let us know when you book if you have any special dietary requirements.

Getting to school & activities

Journey to school: around 40-minute journey by bus. Please note there are no homestay families within walking distance of school.

To attend activities, students must purchase a bus pass. A weekly bus pass costs around £16 per week and can be bought on the bus.

Exam Preparation

This programme is ideal for students who want to improve their English skills while preparing for recognised English examinations like Trinity and Cambridge. All Exam Preparation classes cover essential skills, with fixed examination dates.

The perfect fit for any student interested in learning about the finer point of English culture, this Plus programme covers key topics like British Heritage, Forms of Greeting, Lawn Croquet, Punctuality, The Royal Family, Dining Etiquette, Behaviour in Public, and British tradition of High Tea.
