Globalisation is making the world smaller. It’s now easy to see how everything and everyone is closely connected and the impact of our everyday actions on the planet. Like you, we share the same social and environmental concerns. Essentially, we have a responsibility to take account of our impact on the world in the way we operate. These are the steps we at EC are taking to address the issues which affect us all.

Offsetting our Carbon Footprint

We’re lowering our impact on climate change by making a monetary donation to www.carbonfootprint.com each time someone in our company takes a flight. This money is used to invest in projects that absorb the release of carbon dioxide.

Community Service Programme

Many of our schools offer programmes which allow students to do voluntary placements in the local community. EC volunteers can make a real contribution and volunteers can go home knowing they have done something amazing.

Staff Contribution Scheme

This scheme enables our staff to donate a small part of their monthly salary to a local young people’s charity. In Malta, for example, staff in the past have donated to YMCA.

Sponsorship

EC has sponsored a number of worthy causes in a variety of fields, including backing a Maltese boat’s 2012 Olympic Games bid. Read the full story.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Each school takes individual responsibility for producing less waste. Staff members are encouraged to think of new initiatives and receive a ’Green’ newsletter full of environmental tips.

EC San Francisco Awarded LEED Gold Certification

Our school building received Gold certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system for Existing Buildings. This award officially recognises the building’s meeting of federal environmental standards.
