During your Course
1. We will establish your level of English and show you how to progress
We will give you a placement test to assess accurately your English language ability. By knowing this we can place you in the best class for you with other students of your level.In your class you will improve step-by-step and your teachers will monitor your progress and show you what you need to do in order to progress.
2. We will correct, secure and develop what you already know
When you arrive, you will bring with you the level of English you already have. We will check your knowledge and and build upon it, raising your level and making sure that you don’t repeat common mistakes.
3. We will advance your overall level
We will teach you the new language skills you need. Your course will give you the grammar, vocabulary and the language skills you need to improve your level or to move from one level to the next according to the length of your stay.
4. We will make your passive knowledge active
Some of your English knowledge will be slow to access: it may be accessible enough for your reading and writing skills but not fast enough for speaking and listening. An important part of all EC English courses is making this passive knowledge active so that your speaking and listening skills are greatly improved and you have much more language that is immediately accessible. We maximise your ability to use all the English you know.
5. We will build your confidence in your English usage
Using a language is a skill and like any skill the more confidence you have the better you are. We will give you lots of opportunities to practise all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). At EC you will continually interact and communicate with other English speakers to improve any language weakness you may have. We work hard on your English and like other EC students before you, you will leave feeling confident, energised and in the best position to learn English.
Our Open-Door Policy
EC Directors of Studies have an ’open-door’ policy – you are welcome to come and speak with them about any problems you may be having or any aspect of your course. They have the ability to solve problems and give you the guidance you need.
Your Teachers
Your teacher is the most important person on your English course. You’ll be happy to know that our teachers are passionate about what they do and they use EC’s teaching methods to help you improve your English.
On your course you will see that our teachers are friendly and easy to talk to. They will make sure that you feel relaxed and confident in class.
Our teachers are responsible for planning fun and interesting lessons in which you speak a lot with your classmates. Your teachers will also give you all the support and feedback you need.
We choose our teachers for their ability to inspire and give you the knowledge and extra confidence you need to use English to the maximum of your ability.
Many teachers have furthered their teaching qualifications by obtaining a DipTESOL or DELTA certificate.
