Entry Requirements
The DipTESOL course is suitable for current English language teachers, with at least 2 years’ full–time teaching experience and a first degree, or equivalent. This course is for native speakers of English or other fluent users of English. Prospective trainees for whom English is a second or foreign language must provide evidence of an IELTS band 8.5, or equivalent.
Course Structure
Distance Learning
The course is delivered on a part-time basis over four 11-week blocks, mostly on Moodle, a virtual learning environment designed to help tutors deliver online courses. This is part of our Distance learning programme, with a two-week face-to-face (f2f) session at the end of the online input.
During the distance phase, the tutors will post weekly work packages on our Moodle site, covering the four main course units. Candidates will, in turn, submit their work online for responses from both the tutor/s and their peers. The trainees will have the opportunity to discuss various issues with the other course members via Skype or Moodle forums.
Face-to-face
During the face-to-face phase, tutors will observe and assess trainees’ teaching. Trainees will also work with their tutors on all the necessary areas in preparation for the Written Examination, the Phonology Interview and the final Teaching Practice session which is observed by the Trinity examiner immediately following the Phonology interview.
2011 Start Date: Next course starts on 29th August.
Course Duration
The DipTESOL course runs for one year.
Candidates who, after consulting their tutors, decide to defer parts of the course until the following year, have to keep in mind that extra charges and special conditions apply.
Note: Candidates have exactly three years from first examination entry date to successfully complete the Diploma, after which they will have to take all four sections of the examination again.
