Take your first step towards university level English

This is a 15-week per level course designed to intensify your English language learning and fast-track you to the required level for entry to the EC Online University Pathways course. Learn the core skills of English as well as enjoy some university counselling sessions with a Pathways coordinator.

EC Virtual Pre-Pathways: Course Information

    Please note that the clock changes in the UK in the last week of October and last week of March. This will impact the local time of lessons.

Online Pre-Pathways: How does it work?

Online Pre-Pathways is the first step towards university level English, this is a 15-week per level course designed to intensify your language learning and fast-track you to the required level for entry to the Online University Pathways course. Learn the core skills of English as well as enjoying some university counselling sessions with a Pathways coordinator.

  • 1) Contact us to book

    We'll get back to you as soon as possible to answer any questions you may have. Once your booking has been confirmed, we'll send the student's log in information and also an invitation to join an induction session the Friday before classes begin. Use Teams from your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.

    2) Attend the Friday induction

    Students have the chance to get familiar with the Microsoft Teams platform as well as understand how we teach before enjoying a virtual social activity with their new classmates. Build collaborative classrooms, connect in professional learning communities, and connect with classmates and teachers.

    3) Before the class

    Teachers set up a pre-class assignment with relevant questions for students to discuss on Teams with their classmates (in English)! Assignments can be anything from a reading or listening from the course book or a relevant video or article. Conversations ae monitored by the teacher and students' progress recorded online.

  • 4) During the class

    Students collaborate via video in small groups of 4-6 students from around the world and their teacher, where they outline objectives and goals, discuss the questions and task from the pre-class assignment, review any questions and set up the post-class collaborative activity as well as the pre-class assignment for the next day.

    5) After the class

    Students are asked to work on a writing or speaking post-class collaboration activity which they upload on Teams. Just like with the pre-class assignment, they discuss virtually with their group and the teacher will monitor the chat. Collaboration can positively impact a learner's ability and help meet individual learner goals.
