Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do I need to join this course?

To join our virtual reality programmes you will require a Wi-Fi connection, a pair of Oculus Quest 2 VR goggles, and if someone in the household doesn’t have one already, a Facebook account, as well as a passion to improve your English!

  • Can my parent/guardian monitor my classes if they wish to do so?

Yes! They can view classes through the Oculus app from the linked phone/laptop/device.  The ability to use the ‘casting’ function in the Oculus app also enables family and friends to share fun experiences outside of the classes!

  • Why do I need a Facebook account?

Oculus Quest 2 is a product that is owned by Facebook.  However, whilst you need a Facebook account to set the goggles up, you do not need this account to be active, and there is no link, once the goggles are set up, between them and the Facebook account.  For students under 13 we recommend that Facebook accounts are managed by the parent/guardian.  This gives additional security and allows the parent/guardian complete supervision and management of the hardware.

  • Can I use any VR goggles?

No, in order to access the learning platform, Immerse, you must have the Oculus Quest 2 goggles. The Immerse app is currently available to download through the Oculus Quest app store.

  • Where can I buy the Oculus Quest 2 goggles?

Please use this link to purchase them from the store. Alternatively, the Oculus Quest 2 goggles are available from many local retailers.

  • Do I need to pay for the Immerse app

No, the App is included in the price of your course and you will be given access once you have enrolled and paid

  • What language levels are available in your virtual reality programmes?

Our VR programmes support all levels from elementary to more advanced students. If you have any questions about your level, please contact us and we'll be happy to help you determine your level.

  • Will my classmates be able to see me in the VR platform?

Your classmates will be able to see your avatar and to hear your voice. The learning platform uses avatars and you can choose your own avatar once you are signed up. Your name will be visible above your avatar when in the VR classroom so that your teacher and classmates can identify you

  • How do I enrol?

Complete the enrolment form and send it to return it to us via email . Once we have received your application, we will send you a confirmation of your place on the course along with an invoice for payment and an English language level test. Once we have received your completed level test and your payment, we will send a welcome pack with full instructions on how to join your classes.

  • How long does the enrolment process take?

The enrolment process is relatively quick. The sooner you complete the form, return your English language test, and make payment, the sooner you get started. However, we advise that you allow 1 - 2 weeks* before your course start date if you need to purchase the VR goggles.

*The lead time depends on the country you live in and how long it takes for your goggles to arrive

  • Do I need any experience in virtual reality to join the class?

No. The Oculus Quest goggles are very easy to use - even more so for those with any gaming experience! We would recommend you practice using the goggles for a few days (ideally 2 or 3) before you start your course so you are familiar with them and ready to go from day one.

  • Can I use the Oculus Quest 2 goggles for anything else?

Yes! The hardware you will buy to improve your English language learning is truly remarkable and will open up a whole new world to you and anyone else in your household who wishes to use them! You can use them to practice your English and other languages outside of your classes, explore the world, virtually ride on a rollercoaster, climb Everest or simply relax with a film, a music concert or some meditation. They are a fantastic educational tool with lots of fun games and activities for the whole family to enjoy!
