Choose between 13 different courses

Professional instructors will focus on developing your techniques and skills required to progress in your chosen specialised course with fun and enjoyable sessions. At EC Academy we strive to ensure that every student leaves with confidence in their newly developed or improved skills and with a real sense of achievement.

Students can choose to change course weekly if they'd like to try different things. The standard course is Multi-activities if the student doesn't have a course preference.

  • Students combine their 15 hours of English tuition per week with a variety of sporting, creative and academic courses. Read on to learn more about these activities and where they are available.

  • Climbing & Bouldering

    Be part of the growing Olympic sport for 2020 and learn or develop your climbing skills.

    Let your mind, body and soul climb on some of the best indoor walls created for specialist climbing. Over 4 days students will take part in a varied programme of climbing and bouldering for 2 hours each day. Located in state-of-the-art facilities available with the support of experienced and qualified instructors, students will enjoy:

    Principles of Climbing - Safety, Harnessing, Belaying, Catching and lowering and more.

    Bouldering techniques - Crimping, matching, planning your routes and more.

  • Dance

    Develop your artistic abilities and creativity in a supportive environment with qualified and experienced art teachers. Learn a variety of dance skills taught by professional dance teachers.

    Dance offers a varied programme according to each student's abilities, skills and interests. Classes cover free movement, contemporary, jazz, street dance and even choreography! The dancers will showcase all they've learned to other students at the weekly Academy Showcase.

    Our teachers are all professionally qualified to teach at a variety of levels and disciplines, whether beginners or more advanced students of contemporary and commercial dance.

  • Golf

    Expert instruction for students at all levels by a Professional Golf Association coach.

    Instruction takes place at a local professional golf club. The facilities are excellent with full length practice range, practice bunker, chipping and putting greens. Advanced students may play the course itself.

    The PGA coaches can cater for all abilities including high level players.

    Includes instruction in driving and stroke technique, putting and swing practice

  • Horse Riding

    Ride at an equestrian centre that offers a wealth of experience in fantastic locations.

    Each student will receive an ability test on their first day at the
    equestrian centre. The professional instructors will create a
    programme adapted to the students’ abilities and select a
    horse or pony accordingly for the week.
    Stable management will also be a part of the programme.

    Instruction options include show jumping**, dressage and stable management, and horse riding in the local countryside, dependent on level

  • Multi Activities

    Keep the mind and body active by participating in a variety of fun sports and challenging activities.

    With swimming pools available as well as fantastic sports facilities and spacious grounds, our activities team organise a different combination of sports and activities every day to ensure a varied week.

    Students will spend 2 hours per day over 4 days participating in a selection of activities that may include tennis, football, swimming, as well as treasure hunts and team games.

  • Sailing

    Make a splash this summer and take to the water for a sailing course.

    This programme gives students the opportunity to take advantage of fully qualified and experienced instructors – accredited by the Royal Yachting Association in the UK and the Malta Young Sailors Club in Malta. Students will take to the water on the English Channel as well as Hove Lagoon in our Roedean Academy, alternatively in Malta the students set sail on the crystal clear Mediterranean sea from the sea-side town of St Pauls Bay. Students learn basic nautical skills and may sail a variety of boats. Buoyancy aids are provided. Students will be awarded RYA level 1 dinghy certificate (in the UK), and a Malta Young Sailors Club certificate or higher depending on their level and boats used.

  • Scuba Diving

    For students who've always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, it's time to discover new adventures and see the wondrous world beneath the waves with a PADI Open Water certification!

    Learning to dive is incredible, the PADI Open Water Course introduces students to breathing underwater for the first time and learn what they need to know to become a certified diver.

    The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

    During the course, students will make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of a local PADI Instructor. Malta is constantly rated one of the best diving locations in the Mediterranean, with crystal blue waters and lots of sites near the shoreline, including lots of shipwrecks.

  • Surfing

    With miles of beaches and reliable waves, it's no wonder surfing has become an integral part of California's identity. What better place to enjoy them than Surf City, USA!

    On our surfing programme, students will start with basics of surfing including safety, basics and etiquette, as well as some practise. They will also lean about ocean ecology and conservation to complement their surfing practise.

    Students will expect to enjoy at least 4 days per week out surfing, at least 2 hours each session. All of our instructors are certified members of The International Surfing Association (ISA) and will be there to help students every step of the way.

  • Tennis

    A variety of skills and techniques taught by our professional coaches to help improve your game.

    Each student will be evaluated on the first tennis session as to their level of play. Our professional coaches are all Lawn Tennis Association qualified. Level, 2, 3, 4 and 5 coaches are provided for the more advanced students.

    Our coaches will ensure that students learn and practise a variety of skills and techniques, including serving, volleys, shots and etiquette on the court.

  • Art & Design

    Develop your artistic abilities and creativity in a supportive environment with qualified and experienced art teachers.

    Students will be trained in a variety of techniques and skills, and will be able to showcase the results to the rest of the school at the end of each week at the Academy Art Exhibition.

    The course will take place in an art studio at the school, with occasional field trips or visits to a local art museum or exhibition.

    All instructors are specialist art teachers whose qualifications and experience are recognised by British schools.

  • Coding & Gaming

    Delve into the digital world with our coding and gaming programme, designed to teach students about the ins and outs of gaming as well as inspiring creativity through their own design.

    With our curriculum at UCLA designed by graduates of some of the leading Ivy League universities in the US. In Malta the programme is brought to students by PWC. Students will use games like Fortnite, Overwatch, Minecraft or League of Legends to further their understanding of the industry. At UCLA students have access to a full lab including 3D printers, computers and any other technology required to complete their projects.

    Students can expect to enjoy at least 4 days per week at their Coding and Gaming programme, for at least 2 hours each session. Our dedicated staff will be there to assist students during every stage of their project.

  • Academic Summer Study

    A true taste of a British education with subjects taught by qualified British school teachers.

    This programme teaches a variety of subjects, including maths, science, art and humanities. It's ideal for students who are currently at intermediate level English or above and who want to experience what it would be like to study in an English school or to prepare for further study at an English speaking school, college or university Students who book onto this programme will be asked to take a short level test in advance to verify they are intermediate level. If their level is seen to be less than intermediate, we will recommend an alternative, such as Intensive English.

  • Intensive English

    Focus on improving your English language skills on this intensive course.

    This course will allow students to focus on developing their English skills, with time spent concentrating on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and communication through classroom activities and project work.

    We use a mix of traditional teaching methods and technology (including interactive whiteboards) in the classrooms to ensure an engaging and dynamic class.

    Our classrooms are multi-lingual, so students must use English to be understood. The course is overseen by a qualified Director of Studies.
