Coming to London: The Queen's Jubilee

Sharing is caring!

The Diamond Jubilee

Want to party with the Queen this summer?

Students interested in history and culture should consider taking an English course in London this summer because England – and particularly the capital – will be celebrating 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Diamond Jubilee is being held on the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation (she became queen on June 2, 1953). Although events and activities are planned all over the country, London is probably the best place to soak up the atmosphere. British people love a celebration and a real soft-spot for the Queen. Enjoy the party spirit and have a once-in-a-lifetime experience as part of your English course.

Here are our top 5 royal recommendations of things to see and do in London for the jubilee.

1 – Buckingham Palace

The Queen’s London home in the centre of the city. Be there to watch the changing of the Queen’s guard at 11:30. Be there early for a good place to watch.

2 – Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant

The Queen’s boat, along with 1000 others, will be sailing up the River Thames on 3rd June. For great views, and a relaxing place, try Battersea Park.
