As you are looking at the EC London blog page, you know that we have a school blog! But do you actually know what blog means?
www.dictionary.com defines the noun as “a personal web site that provides updated headlines and news articles of other sites that are of interest to the user, also may include journal entries, commentaries and recommendations compiled by the user”.
What does the word blog mean to you?
Have you ever written or updated one? Personally, I have an online diary that I sometimes use, but it is only visible to my friends. Some people allow everyone to look at what they write, but I don’t want strangers to know everything about me! What about you?
What are your favourite blogs? Do you like reading blogs in English or in your language?
Have you heard of microblogging? An example of this would be twitter (www.twitter.com) – have you ever used it? I have a twitter account so maybe you can find me if you look hard enough…
Looking at blogs can be fun and a good way to waste some time, but most importantly, how can blogging be helpful for learning English? Have you ever used blogs in your lessons at EC? If you haven’t but would be interested in doing so, just tell your teacher and I’m sure they will try and arrange something, or you can just check the EC blog whenever you log on in the computer room.
Have fun and happy blogging!
🙂
