A day on the South Bank

Despite the challenging weather, a good number of students met outside the school at Stukeley Street and made our way towards St Paul’s Cathedral where, after we’d had a hot drink and let a torrential downpour subside, we took some group photos of the amazing architecture before crossing Millenium Bridge. We then strolled around the Tate Modern gallery for an hour and a half which was enjoyed by all and one or two students even paid to see an exhibition by Joan Miro, the Spanish artist. By now the sun was out and we were able to walk along the river past Shakespeare’s Globe theatre as well as HMS Belfast – the permanently docked warship – before stopping for some food prior to crossing back over the Thames. We ambled over Tower Bridge and finished the day at the Tower of London, the historic castle founded in 1066. Everyone enjoyed a trip that incorporates many of London’s ‘must-see’ attractions.
