Narrow streets surrounded by walls, medieval structures, breathtaking views and a small population of around 250 inhabitants…You probably already know the city being described! Last Thursday (24th April), a group of EC Malta students went to discover the treasures of Mdina, in a lovely tour around the city. The medieval town was the capital of Malta in the past, holding vast history and amazing architecture along the narrow streets.
Mdina is one of the most popular tourist destinations, perfect for those who want a relaxing day with a calm atmosphere, whilst enjoying the amazing views over this magical town. The place is known as the “Silent City” by locals, due to the limited number of cars allowed to enter the bastions.
The city is just outside the village of Rabat – the Arabic word for suburb. The location of the city which is situated just on the top of a hill in the centre of the island makes it favorable for capturing lovely pictures of the landscape below.
EC Malta constantly offers tours to visit Mdina, so keep your eyes on our Weekly Social Programme and be sure to join the next tour! For further information don’t hesitate to contact the main reception.
